Nicorrina sat in her office, a tall hot coffee with plenty of espresso in it. She had had a restless night last night and now her body chose to be tired and want to sleep.
It felt like all the traffic in space had chosen this morning to stop at OverWatch. It had taken both her and Zako putting their heads together to come up with a plan that got most of them in and out in a timely manner. Though it could be a bit stressful at times, she loved her job. There was never a dull day.
She had stopped by the mess hall on her way back to her office to grab something to drink. Nicorrina smiled as she thought of standing in line, waiting her turn when the man in front of her had turned and her eyes met his and Nicorrina felt something. It was like an instant attraction to him. She had always thought when her friends told her it was love at first sight that they were just exaggerating but in that moment she felt something more than just liking him.
Nicorrina laughed as she remembered he had said something to her and it took her a few seconds to realize he was talking to her. She had felt her face flush and for the life of her she could not remember one word he had said. It must have been okay because he had not looked at her like she had two heads or anything. Armando Mantoya was his name and they had carried on a conversation until they got their coffees. Nicorrina had started to head to her office but turned and called to him, asking if he wanted to have dinner with her tonight.
Nicorrina thought he was going to say no but he surprised her with a smile and asked her what time. After confirming when they would meet, she headed to her office with a smile on her face.
And here she sat, still not quite believing that she had asked him out. Well she had not exactly said it was a date, she had asked him to eat with her. Nicorrina took a deep breath and let it out. Just because he said yes did not mean he felt the same attraction for her that she had for him.
Nicorrina turned to her work and gave herself a talking to. She needs to clear this paperwork off her desk before the day ended. She prided herself on not procrastinating, all that did was leave more work for the next day.
Things picked up and she became busy, having to set aside her nervousness over her dinner with Armando. Nicorrina spent her day scheduling flights in and out of the station. She dealt with some good and bad issues throughout the day which was pretty normal.
However, there was one freighter that she turned away. They were belligerent and it was obvious that the person who called to dock was drunk or on something. He threatened Nicorrina with everything he had and she stood her ground. After they left, The first officer, Lieutenant Commander Greenwood had stopped and commended her for staying calm and the way in which she handled the situation.
This put Nicorrina in a really good mood. She knew she was good at her job, she wouldn’t be here if she wasn’t but it still felt good when someone noticed.
Nicorrina picked up her office which was really just her straightening a picture. She stopped and spoke to her assistant before heading off duty. From there she went and took a shower and got cleaned up so she could go meet Armando. She laughed as she headed to the mess hall. What would he think if he knew she had changed her clothes five times and had tried three different ways to wear her hair and finally settled with it down.
Heading towards the mess hall, Nicorinna was both excited and nervous. She took some deep breaths and walked into the mess hall, looking around for Armando.

Elsbeth went into her office, shaking her head. On any given day she was a confident, intelligent woman who knew her job and some might say put fear in the hearts of those who tried to cross her.
She smiled at that thought, who was she kidding it was all true except the last part. She was calm and cool as well as a born peacemaker. She would stand up for herself but there was no one who felt fear when they thought about her. It felt good to think that however.
Elsbeth had to get her physical update today. Last time she had one done it was a middle-aged woman and she felt totally comfortable about it. Today she walked into sickbay to a Greek God with sparkling sexy eyes and who was nice and did everything he could to make her feel at ease. Elsbeth had been nervous the whole time. The more she talked to him, the more she was afraid he might be able to tell she had a sort of crush on him. It had sounded to her as if she was rambling on and on.
Elsbeth had tried to keep things calm and cool, asking him mundane questions like how was he finding things on the station, they both joked about the crew having an aversion to their physicals. Elsbeth had said they didn’t bother her one bit and Quincy McAdams had looked at her like he saw right through her. It was probably because he had to threaten her to get her to finally show up.
As physicals went it was pretty straight forward and simple. She had passed of course so it would be another year before she had to get one. Elsbeth took a quick breath. A year was way too long before she saw Quincy again. What reason could she come up with to see him? A chronic headache? She thought about that for a moment and shook her head. He might think she was stressed and sent her to the shrink. She was not going down that road. Besides, it was too dishonest to fake an illness. Elsbeth just did not have it in her.
Elsbeth sat back and many scenarios went through her mind but none of them just felt right. Elsbeth wanted to start out right and not try and trick him. She sat drinking her iced tea when she had a thought that it was so simple she laughed to herself.
She would wait until one day when they were both at the mess hall at the same time and ask to eat with him. It sounded forward but she would never know unless she made the move. Elsbeth smiled then. Or if he felt the same and he asked her first. Either way, she had a plan, she just needed to be patient and wait for that day. The worst case scenario would be that he was involved with someone already and if so then she would move on. Elsbeth might find him attractive but at this point that was all it was. There were no feelings there yet, other than the initial attraction.
Elsbeth turned back to her work. She needed to get something done today. She checked her schedule and realized she had a meeting with the first officer in ten minutes. She grabbed a padd off her desk and headed out. Elsbeth hated to be late for anything, especially a meeting with one of their commanding officers. Her thoughts turned to work as the scene faded away.
