Jaxon headed to work with a smile on his face. He had had a great evening with Lira. It felt good to have the night off and it made him realize that he needed to make some change, he had an assistant and staff for a reason and
they would have to start stepping up. It was not their fault, it was his.

It meant some changes for some of them. He was no longer going to stay late to make certain things were taken care of properly. Jaxon had to trust that they would follow orders and that they had the experience to do their job.

Jaxon trusted his crew, he just had somewhat of a complex where he felt he had to be there or something might happen but his crew looked to him as a mentor and if he didn’t let go they would lack the confidence they
needed to move forward and upward. That was not fair to them.

Sitting down at his desk, Jaxon brought his computer up and went to work, adjusting the schedules for his security officers. Once he was done, he sent it out to all of them. Jaxon expected there would be some grumbling and he would have to make some changes, but the general concept was done. If there was a legitimate reason he would make adjustments. He thought he was a fair chief.

Jason sat back and thought about Lira. He meant it when he said he was lucky. She also loved it when he showed her how he felt. Jaxon sat back and thought for a long moment and a smile crossed his face. He got up and headed out the door, calling one of his officers. “I will be back.” Was all he said as he headed on his way down the hallway. He hoped that everything would fall into place.

Jaxon walked through the ship until he came to the kitchens. He walked in and saw two young girls eating breakfast while some of the staff was busy at work. It looked as if they were preparing for a later meal in the day.

“Excuse me.” He said quietly. “I am looking for Chef Gutierrez.”

The youngest of the two girls looked at him and her eyes widened. She smiled and got up and quickly came over to where he stood.

“Hello.” She said, “I am Ariana Gutierrez. The Chef is my Mom.”

“Is your mother here?” Jaxon said, ignoring the young girl’s attempt at flirting with him.

“I will get her.” Candelaria said as she headed to the back. “Ariana, leave him alone!”

Jaxon was a bit uncomfortable as this young girl, who he judged to be about thirteen or fourteen stood just staring at him.

A moment later, the Chef came in, her daughter right behind her. “Ariana Ada Gutierrez, finish your breakfast!” Rosa called out.

Ariana’s eyes widened as if whatever spell she thought she was under was broken by her mothers voice and she hurried back over to her seat.

Rosa turned to Jaxon, who was a little embarrassed by the attention Ariana had thrown at him. She chose to ignore it, not wanting to make it worse. “Can I help you?”

“Oh yes!” Jaxon said with a smile. “I was wondering if you could do me a favor.”

“If it is to change my menu for today.” Rosa spoke quickly. “I already have the food prepared and it just isn’t possible!”

“Oh no.” Jaxon shook his head. “I already checked to see what you are serving and it is one of Lira’s favorite meals.”

“Lira.” Rosa said with a smile. “What is it you are doing for her?” She really liked her and wanted details before she committed to anything.

“She is my bondmate.” Jaxon explained. “My other half. Soulmate is what I believe is the common word.” He shook his head. “Let me explain what I came to ask you.”

Ross smiled at him. “That might help some because I confess I am at a total loss here.”

“I have not been very attentive lately.” Jaxon said a little u comfortably. “I have been working way too much and I want to make it up to her. I was wondering if it would be possible for me to pick up two dinners later this afternoon.”

Rosa listened to his words and it reminded her of when she and Renato were young. Back then they would each go out of their way to do special things for the other. It had been a while since that happened. She decided she needed to record that and soon.

“I normally do not do special orders like this.” Rosa said after a moment. “Soon the whole crew will want to have their meals boxed up or even delivered.” Her eyes met Jaxon’s. “But this is a special reason and I can see how important this is to you. I will have them ready for you along with a surprise dessert.” She smiled. “She will love it!”

A wide smile crossed Jaxon’s face “Thank you so much!” He said sincerely. “If you ever need something from me, just let me know and I will do my best to help out.”

“It is no trouble.” She shook her head. “Lira is a lucky woman to have someone who cares such as you do.”

“I am the lucky one.” Jaxon replied. He felt eyes on him and glanced over to see Rosa’s younger daughter staring at him once more. “I am sorry but I need to go. Thank you again.”

“I am happy to do this for the two of you.” Rosa assured him.

As Jaxon left the room he heard Rosa call out “Ariana Ada Gutierrez! You stop staring at him. He is too old for you and has someone!”
He shook his head. If she was already crushing on men they were going to have their hands full.l

Jaxon went back to his office and checked Lira’s schedule for the day. She had a meeting in the afternoon that looked to be a lengthy one. It would fit perfectly into the plans that Jaxon had made. He was a little nervous things would not go as planned but he had to have faith.

By late afternoon, Jaxon had everything set up. He had gone to their quarters at lunch and set things up so they would have a romantic setting for their dinner. Jaxon had replicated flowers he knew were her favorite and placed them where she would see them when she got home. He was getting out of work early so that he could shower, change and be all set when she walked in from work.

Finally it was time for him to leave. He spoke with his assistant and then headed on his way to their quarters. Jaxon took a shower and dressed in leisurely clothing. Something that looked attractive on him but was meant for a private night together. He went around the room and made certain things were perfect, lit the candles he had set out and took another look around. It had to be perfect.

Earlier, Rosa had contacted him and arranged to have one of her servers deliver their dinner in containers that would assure the food would stay warm for when they were ready to eat. The door chimed right on time and Jaxon let them in smiling as things had come together perfectly.

Jaxon felt like time was standing still. He was anxious for her to arrive home. It felt like forever to him when the door slid open and Lira walked in.

“Welcome home, my love.” Jaxon murmured as he walked over and took her in his arms as the scene faded away.
