Location: Overwatch Station, Mess Hall
Sotti walked into the mess hall, she was eager to sit down and get something to eat. She was hoping to run into Katie and Mika two girls that she had gotten really close to. But today it seems like fate had other plans for her.
Thyhl had just gotten in line when he felt someone form uo behind him. He turned and smiled at the Andorian woman behind him in line.
“Everyone chose now to eat it seems.” Thyhl said trying to make conversation.
“What other time would they have chosen?” Sotti asked, a little curious why he would start a conversation using that particular statement. Maybe it’s trying to be unique, but she wondered why.
“It’s a little later than normal for the rush hour.” Thyhl explained. “I try to come when it isn’t so busy.”
“You don’t like long lines I take it, or is it just crowded mess halls?” Sotti ask, she personally didn’t like crowded areas because her security initiatives would entice her to be extra assertive an alert during those times. She prefer the quieter time so she could actually focus on eating and just relaxing and enjoying the moment.
“I prefer less people honestly.” Thyhl said with a smile. “It is rather noisy and when you are sitting with someone it can make it difficult to hear each other.”
“I know what you mean, I prefer smaller crowds myself. Mainly because of my line of profession. I’ve seen you around other staff meetings, so I don’t think I need to tell you that I’m the chief of security.” Sotti said to him with a semi serious look on her face.
“No.” Thyhl said with a nod. “And I am sure you know I am the chief engineer. My name is Thyhl, it is nice to get to talk to you.”
“I have seen you around.” Sotti said with a warm smile on her face. “What are you having for lunch?” She asked, curious to hear what he was going to eat. She had not gone through the line yet.
“I will get the salad.” Thyhl said decisively. “With the chicken on it. They have tuber root from home and I have them put some on it.” He almost asked her what she was eating but he didn’t want to sound like a bird…he thought for a moment and remembered it was a parrot that mimicked others.
“I was interested in trying a particular type of salad but I have to wait until the promenade is open. After lunch I’m going to go there and see how that new promenade area is coming along? I’m so happy the Commodore was able to convert part of the area for a promenade. I can’t believe this station didn’t have one previously.” Sotti said as she looked over to him, where were the girls supposed to go to get some decent food and to go shopping she thought to herself.
“It will be good to have choices.” Thyhl nodded. “What kind of salad is this that you want to try. I had a salted caramel cookie the other day that I really liked.”
“A cookie with salt, that seems like a contradiction but you’re telling me it’s good?” Sotti said as you remember trying a sugar cookie not too long ago and thinking it was super sweet.
“It was the salt that made it good.” Thyhl said with a smile. “I am not much into sugar. I just don’t get the fascination.”
“I don’t get it either, but the humans they just love their sugar don’t they?” Sotti said with the big smile on her face, a little nervous. She was trying to have light conversation with Thyhl. And she wanted to go well.
“Yes they do.” Thyhl said with a grin. “I will never totally understand them.” He was glad their talk seemed to be going well.
Sotti grinned as they continue to proceed on the line, they both put salads onto their plates and then sat down as a scene starts to fade away with the two of them talking more.
Thyhl thought Sotti was really nice. He hoped that this meant more times they could spend together. He listened to her talk as the scene faded.
