Location: Overwatch Station, Shuttle Bay
Sotti walked into the shuttle Bay operations center, she was scheduled to meet up with six crewman and two staff noncommissioned officers. These two teams were going to investigate new Java for the next week.
Sotti was going there to simply give them there authorization clearance. And she was also meeting up with the chief science officer. As she walked into the shuttle Bay she went over to the two shuttles and saw that the two crews were already lined up waiting for her and the chief science officer.
“Chief Carson, is your crew ready to go?” Sotti asked as she walked over to the chief. His name was Keith Carson, and he was primarily responsible for marine biology in the scientific field.
“I am, I’m eager to proceed with our mission maam. I want to get out there before the civilian scientists do.” Keith said, he had heard that civilian scientists were retrofitting the old birth class starships and that they were heading out towards their direction. Even though Starfleet had worn them that the remote locations for the Federation border were hostile areas, they were willing to take the risk which made people like Keith and no doubt Overwatch Station a little nervous about their protection and their safety.
Before Sotti could respond the doors to the shuttle Bay opened up and out walked Katie Woodward, wearing a teal uniform and bearing the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade.
Katie walked into the shuttle Bay Area, she had a big grin on her face so she continued to smile. She simply nodded at Chief Carson as she walked over to one of her junior enlisted crew members. “And who might you be?” Katie asks, trying to remember everybody’s name but she knew that this Crewman 3rd Class was new to her team.
“Crewman 3rd Class Rena Morris, Ma’am.” She said with a voice of respect.”
Katie grinned with a big smile, “What is your area of expertise?” She said with a big smile on her face. Katie wanted to get to know everyone on her team.
“I am a Planetary Geoscientist.” Rena replied with a smile. She loved what she did and wouldn’t trade her career.
“I see, what do you think about this Moon you’re going to only having 1% land mass visible on it’s surface?” Katie asked if she waited for Rena took respond.
“A little challenging to set up equipment. But I am grateful for the opportunity.” Rena suggested with a warm smile on her face.
“I wish I was going with you all, but sadly they need me here.” Katie said, a little disappointed.
“There will be several trips to the moon, no doubt you’ll be on one of those trips.” Rena suggested to Katie.
“I suppose your right. But I have never been on an Atlantic Class Runabout before. I was hoping to go aboard. I guess I’ll have to wait.” Katie proclaimed.
“We will all get a turn.” Rena said positively. “This is a good ship with a fair and just command. I see them being fair with all of us.”
“Keep talking like that and you might be a commanding officer if you’re on Department someday. That’s officer level thinking.” Katie said with a big grin on her face.
Rena smiled. “I try to be open and honest about my feelings. It is now I see things, there is no sense in not being honest.”
“I won’t keep you guys, but I will insist that you guys try to have a little bit of fun I know there’s going to be a lot of work and a lot of information to go through but this is also an opportunity for you guys to Bond as a unit.” Katie said hoping that motivates them just a little bit.
“I am looking forward to digging in.” Rena said. “And discovering something new but also getting to know the team as well.”
The research teams boarded both runabouts. Besides the eight scientists they also had two navigation specialists and two mission commanders who are both Chief Petty Officer’s. One of them was Chief Petty Officer Keith Carlson. Once the two runabouts left, Katie looked over to Sotti.
“You really want to be on a water planet?” Sotti asked, thinking to herself that didn’t really sound like a fun idea.
“I’m a scientist, that’s my idea of exploration. Yeah the idea of being on a water planet with 1% body mass sounds intriguing to me.” Katie said in response.
“I prefer a nice Ice Planet myself. I like my water to be frozen or chilled.” Sotti suggested to Katie as the same continued on for a while. The two of them were talking about Andor and how it was completely the opposite of this moon.

Location: USS Mare Cognitum, Aft Cabin
The USS Mare Cognitum and the USS Oceanus Procellarum we’re starting to board their six-person crews each.
Keith was one of the six boarding and since he has the most senior he got first dibs on bunks he chose the bottom bunk on the port side. “You might as well get cozy guys we’re going to be here for a while.” Keith suggested as he went down to go put his gear away.
Ray Porter, a oceanographer in science, was relieved to have the choice of the top bunk. He grinned and stowed his gear, climbing up on it. “Im glad for the top bunk so I’ll definitely be comfortable.”
Rena grabbed the bottom bunk on the other wall. “I’m claiming this one.” She said with a smile. She wasn’t fond of top bunks.”
Dale Rivera walked in and grabbed the top
bunk. “I’m Dale he said. Ima a hydrologist and lucky enough to be assigned to this mission.”
“What is you’re exact part of the mission, Crewman?” Keith asked, as he decided to quiz him.
“To study the quality of the water.” Dale replied. “Take samples, students contents and see how the water flows, if there is movement where it goes and circulates.”
“What about you Crewman Porter? What’s your function on this mission?” Keith asses he noticed that he took the other bed next to them which would have been the middle bunk. There were six phones three bunks on each side one set on the port and one set on the starboard.
“I will be studying the physical, biological and any chemical elements that may be contained in the water.” He paused. “And you?”
“I’m here to supervise you out but I’m here the one asking questions not you Crewman.” Keith said with a big grin on his face, he was mainly teasing.
Ray grinned back. “That was kind of gutsy of me.” He had been curious was all, but he liked Keith’s easy going nature. “Looks like you have a good crew on this one.”
“I believe you are right, Crewman Porter.” Keith said, as the scene starts to fade away.
