With the embers still cooling on the fire that was the latest Bravo Fleet Campaign “The Devil To Pay” we’re coming at you with the latest from the front lines in the defense of the Federation here in Task Force 86. While things remain in flux, and nobody know exactly how the galaxy has been changed by the events of the Campaign you can read all about what we do know in A Price too High from Bravo Fleet Intelligence.
Task Force 86 stepped up in a big way, and it was fantastic to see how well we participated and all the stories our writers told as they defended the frontier.
Since our last report at the end of September Fleet Captain Ryoko Takato, known on Discord as RaWolfe, stepped down. I was given the opportunity to step up from my role as the Task Force’s Executive Officer to its new Commanding Officer. It’s been a busy month and a half, but I’ve enjoyed working with all of you and slowly learning all there is to know. I’d like to thank Fleet Captain Takato for their hard work as the TFCO for the past year and hope to honor their legacy.
Stepping into the role of Executive Officer is Lieutenant Commander Alaric Constantine, known as moaningsalmon or Beryl Hammond on Discord. They had previously been a Task Group CO, and so were a natural choice to make the move upwards. Their help has been so extraordinarily useful and I am grateful to have them at my back, and at my side.
If anyone needs anything relating to Bravo Fleet or Task Force 86 please reach out to either of us on Discord or email.
Thanks to Takato, Constantine, and everyone in the Task Force I foresee 2025 being a great year for Task Force 86 and I can’t wait to experience it with all of you!
Task Force Updates
One of the things that Fleet Captain Takato helped to establish is Task Force 86’s amazing collection of Task Unit Assets. These are in-character units that are specifically set aside for us in the stories of Task Force 86’s member writers. For details on how to use Task Unit Assets read this handy guide. While your ship, or starbase, is still the hero of the story these Task Unit Assets can lend a hand, or set a story in motion. Think Sulu and the Excelsior showing up for the climactic battle in Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country, or the USS Reliant getting taken over in The Wrath of Khan.
Though you know… don’t do to our Task Units what Kirk did to the Reliant, please!
Below is a summary of these new assets!
- Starbase 260, a Vision-class starbase at the borders of the Ferengi Alliance
- USS Sizemore, a Steamrunner-class light cruiser and patrol and support ship
- USS West Covina, a California-class utility cruiser
- USS Swigert, a Saber-class frigate
- USS Advance, a Freedom-class scout
We have had great engagement across the Task Force with the Bravo Fleet Campaign, which recently ended. Things have been a bit quieter since our last report which was coming off the high of the summer’s Fleet Action Labyrinth. While we have a stream of new members joining so the future looks bright on the borders of the Final Frontier in Task Force 86!
Fiction Updates
-
- USS Truckee – The crew of the USS Truckee wrapped up their shakedown cruise on Cardassia Prime, while Captain Beardsly takes some time to try to get to know his new, mysterious XO. The Truckee joins the Fleet in tracking down stolen Federation technology, investigating the abandoned base left behind by the pirates they had just defeated!
- Selene Division
- USS Selene – After leading a strike force into the Triangle to hunt down pirate activity the USS Selene hoped to get back to his core competency as a Long Range Explorer. However, the events of the Fleet Campaign interfered and the Selene was tasked with tracking down the source of the stolen Klingon battlecruisers that the USS Falcon was pursuing.
- USS Falcon – Freshly assigned to Selene Division, and Task Force 86, the USS Falcon was tasked with responding to hit-and-run raids on Federation colonies. These raids were the work of pirates who had somehow gotten control of two top-of-the-line Klingon warships, making it seem like these were attacks by the Klingons. Outnumbered the Falcon confronted the two ships and received heavy damage before a Starfleet squadron moved in and drove off the ships that remain at large.
- Valhalla Division
- USS Valhalla – Captain McKenzie takes an evening to meet with some of her fellow captains. Together, they reflect and reminisce on the losses they’ve suffered; the price of service. Captains Murphy and Walton pay respects to a prior CO.
- USS Andromeda – A surprise visit has Captain Murphy signing up the Andromeda for a clandestine trip to Orion Syndicate territory. Gathering up the family, Murphy makes her way through Spacedock to hitch a ride on the Sojourner and head out into the stars!
- Jaxartes Division
- USS Jaxartes and USS da Vinci – A missing ship? An old friend, turned foe? A new command? A babysitter for a new captain? The adventures of the Jaxartes and da Vinci have it all! Captain Anacostia-Bolling takes her new ship and crew across the stars, faking a medical emergency to meet an underworld contact, infiltrating a pirate ship, and a chase across the galaxy culminates in a final, glorious battle!
