Fleet Operations Report July 2020

July 26, 2020

The Operations Office is primarily concerned with development and management for the fleet’s units and games. At midsummer, I’m pleased to report that the fleet is seeing positive movement both in terms of task force-level and game-level staffing.

Staffing Updates

In July, the five task force staffs remained stable other than a shift in Task Force 9, with Shelley moving up to Task Force 9 Executive Officer, and Dave joining the ranks of the Task Force Senior Staff as Task Force 9 Chief of Staff.

A vacancy remains for a Chief of Staff in Task Force 72, so if you’re interested in that role, please reach out to me or to the TF72 staff directly for an application.

Game Updates

All five task forces have been working on opening premade games with Nova sites fully ready for new game masters to take them over. If you’ve been thinking about running your own game, I invite you to peruse the BFMS to look for something that sparks your interest!

I’m also pleased to announce that the Cygnus in Task Force 9 has now officially become the first premade game to reach sufficient player levels to go active! We’ll be monitoring this game with great interest as a proof of concept.

Policy Reminders

Earlier this month, we completed a revision of the Operational Policy. If you haven’t already, please check out the previous announcement for the highlights.

As a reminder, GMs no longer need to submit reports for their games each month, but are instead expected to be in regular contact with the relevant TF staff.

In addition, GMs are expected to ensure that their full player roster is registered on the BFMS. If you have any questions about this, contact me or your TF staff.

Goals for August and Beyond

As a brand-new position, part of the fun of being Operations Officer has been to help define this new role vis a vis the other department head positions and to see how it can best serve the TFSSs. To that end, my goals for this office in the next few months are as follow:

  • Create handbooks for GMS and TFSS with regard to operational matters.
  • Work towards consistently-full TFSS positions across the fleet, with individuals identified as rising stars able to slip into those positions as they become available.
  • Assist TF staffs in staffing premade games and improving the fleet’s offerings for diverse and exciting game positions.

If you have any questions or concerns about this report, please reach out on Discord or via email to ops@bravofleet.com.

Best,
