We Are the Borg: Technological Distinctiveness

Description

Build a 3D object using real materials to represent an item of Borg technology deployed by the Collective. Submit a picture or video of the object created. Objects can be made, for example, out of cardboard, paper, LEGOs, wood or any other material. Drawing and coloring on the object is permitted for details and enhancements, but any additional work beyond that is not permitted (for example: A hand drawn background or digital art enhancements added to the image beyond simple color/contrast correction of the photo). In addition, entries will be evaluated based on the amount of original creation that goes into them. For example, a 3d printed object from a pre-made model will be evaluated differently than a scratch built item as the entrant did not themselves create the model.

Members are encouraged to submit a written explanation of the object to orient the graders as to what it is, but the written explanation is not part of the placement criteria other than to give context to the graders.

Criteria

  • Grading: Submissions will be graded on originality, detail, and obvious effort expended.
  • Medium: Photo or Video of real object.

The yet unseen Borg pyramid. An reven smaller craft than the probe, designed to carry only 10 to 15 drones, generally on localized scouting missions for specific technology or for lost technology recovery.

Made from black card stock, with a cannibalized green LED tea candle inside for the green light.

One of the initial enhancements integrated by the Borg into a newly assimilated drone involves the installation of an ocular implant.
These implants vary depending on the species and the specific role assigned to the drone.
The ocular implant is designed to be easily installed, with retractable barbs at its end securing it in place as nanobots establish the necessary connections.
