SURVIVAL 101 – ARCTIC THEME
Description
Starfleet Academy has found out during a routine archive check that there was a miscalculation with your grade in the class Survival 101. You (your chosen character) have not passed this class and are required to redo this class, or your current assignment will be in danger. Please perform the below-given assignment in a nearby holodeck and send the results to Starfleet Academy. We advise you to have a senior staff member observe this examination.
Starfleet Survival 101 – Examination Requirements:
1) Situational briefing
Your starship responds to a distress beacon at a research outpost on a glaciated P-class planet. All communication attempts go unanswered. Due to interference from the weather, site transporting is too risky. Your shuttle had to make an emergency landing in a mountainous valley. Sensors are spotty, but they show the outpost is roughly a day and a half walk to the northwest. Communications with your starship are equally spotty. The shuttle has cold weather gear, but little else beyond standard rations and phasers. Your objectives are as follows:
2) Objectives
Traverse the landscape and contend with any creatures/hazards encountered.
Obtain shelter for the night while traveling.
Reach the outpost and discover the reason for the communication blackout.
When mission is complete, find a way to return to your starship.
For this competition, you’re tasked with writing a story using survival skills to complete the required mission. How you do this is up to you, but you must meet the objectives. Feel free to use your imagination, but the competition is primarily about survival. This means your character should be put in less than favorable situations.
