Your Year in Review

Description

While there are a great many celebratory traditions that mark the end of one year and the beginning of a new one, there is one annual event that occurs at this time of year that can be the cause of anxiety, fear, and dread in everyone.

The Year-end Performance Review.

Every organization has them and, for better or worse, everyone has to put up with them. It doesn’t matter if you are a cadet, commander, or admiral, you’re going to get one and it could make or break your plans for the year. How do you deal with yours? Is it scary or exciting? Time for us all to find out.

The task for this event is to write a fiction regarding your character recieving a performance review. It could be from a superior officer, other NPCs, or even your character’s friends/family/coworkers, etc. The tone can be whatever you think fits from serious to light-hearted to downright silly. It’s all up to you.

Criteria

  • Submissions should be between 500 and 3,000 words in length and submitted via any widely readable document format (.doc or .pdf preferred) that can be uploaded to BFMS - no links shared (e.g.: Google docs).
  • Submissions will be judged on overall story composition, creavity, style, and adherance to the overall spirit of the prompt. Spelling and grammar will only be considered as a tiebreaker or if they make the submission difficult to understand.
  • The actual text of the perfomance review may be included in the submission, but will count against the word limit only in terms of max words (i.e. there must be at least 500 words exclusive of the text of the review, but the overall word count must still not exceed 3,000).
