Homestead: Downtime Posts

It’s something of an RPG tradition to allow for free-form writing between formal missions, to give characters a chance to visit the holodeck or go on shore leave. This can be fun to write and helps us flesh out our characters’ personalities, while also helping them process the big, epic stories we put them through in normal episodes.

The purpose of this competition is to reward so-called “character development” posts on Bravo Fleet RPGs. As such, you may submit any post that earned duty ribbons (any post on a Nova RPG or joint posts on the BFMS) that you consider to be your best example of off-duty, shore-leave, or character development written between October 10, 2021 and December 12, 2021.

Unlike most other competitions, this one can have multiple entrants per post. So, if you wrote a joint post with two other people, both of those people would be entered alongside you for placement. However, each person may only be in one entry. Additionally, each additional person raises the number of words minimum required by 250 words. So, if you have an entry with two people, it has to be at least 500 words. If you have an entry with 4 people, it has to be at least 1,000 words, etc. The purpose of this is to discourage posts that have a lot of characters, but few contributions from each one.

Entries will be judged based on how well each character’s personality comes through, the quality of the interactions between characters, the creativeness of the scenario, and adherence to lore.

Criteria

• Entries must include a link to a post that earned duty ribbons (any post on a Nova RPG or a joint post on the BFMS), and must list the users involved in creating the post (with user numbers).
• Members may not be considered for more than one post in this competition. All members must give permission for a post to be submitted here.
• Entries will be judged based on how well each character's personality comes through, the quality of the interactions between characters, the creativeness of the scenario, and adherence to lore.
• Entries that include the full text of a post directly in the submission will be disqualified.
