Delta Quadrant IDIC Week: Bio Competition
Description
Before the invention of warp travel, any race that wished to travel across the stars without resorting to cryostasis would have had to use generational ships—vessels intended to be in space so long that generations would be born and die during the journey. Voyager encountered one such ship owned by the Varro in 2375, and indeed Commander Chakotay noted at the outset of their journey that Voyager herself would need to become a generation ship, with many of her original crew likely not living through the entire 75-year journey.
Because of the distances involved and the constant unknowns when it comes to the Barzan Wormhole’s lasting usability, every officer assigned to a mission in the Delta Quadrant must treat each trip to the other side as if they may not make it back in their lifetime. The individuals assigned to these missions are some of the best-trained and innately talented members of the fleet because they have to be able to handle themselves completely without support in the Delta Quadrant.
For this competition, develop a biography of a character who is assigned to a Delta Quadrant ship. What motivated them to volunteer for the Delta Exploration Initiative? What are they leaving behind? What skills do they have that make them suited for a mission that might not have an easy or fast way home?
Criteria
- Characters should be made on the BFMS, set to cameo, and published. Include a link to the character in your submission.
- Characters should be newly-written for this contest, not currently-played characters, though you're free to do whatever you want with the character after the competition is over.
- Biographies should be as complete as possible to give the judge a sense of the character's place in the Delta Quadrant.
- Entries will be judged based on creativity, style, and adherence to the theme, with special attention paid to characters that bring a unique perspective to the Delta Quadrant. Grammar and spelling will not be important judging considerations but will be used to break ties.
