The Raptor’s Wings: [Week 2] Creation

Description

Create an object that could be associated with your new ship (or soon to be new ship!) – something you would have in your ready room. Be creative! This is fairly open-ended so think outside the box. A wood carving, a painting, something you sew, a Lego creation. Also, include a brief description of what it is. Entries will be judged on creativity and skill.

Criteria

  • Please submit all entries via a picture of your entry along with a brief description about it.
  • All entries should be submitted through the Enter Competition form.

The ship's mascot, Bob the Battle Horga'hn. Gifted as a joke (as most Horga'hn are) to the Captain many many moons ago by the Chief Engineer. The presence of Bob was at first a curse, the obvious undertones of its purpose giving it ominous and debauched notions to those who saw it. However, as time passed, Bob started to become something of a fixture. He would appear in the Conference Room in various locations at first, then slowly Bob started to appear on the Bridge, in Sickbay, and even perched on the warp core. It wasn't until one fateful day when Bob was perched upon the Tactical Console that he earned his final epithet, 'Battle Horga'hn'. During an engagement with hostiles, the ship was hit violently with weapons fire, the resulting shock wave knocking Bob from his perch and unto the tactical board. His inadvertent contact with the torpedo firing command was the lynch pin move that saved the ship from destruction. This brush with serendipity earned the little totem a venerable title, and secured it a place of honor inside the crew's hearts. Bob the Battle Horga'hn sustained minor damage (not pictured here) during the incident, and the crew decided to leave him slightly marred to distinguish him from any other ordinary Horga'hn that might try to infiltrate the ship and steal Bob's glory.

(This Horga'hn was hand carved and is signed by both Garrett Wang and Terri Farrell, and has been a staple of Star Trek costuming for many many years.)

My Captain's Ready Room absolutely has to have a urinal in it...maybe with a bit more privacy, but nonetheless, a place to pee without having to go far!!!

Original painting of Captain Javin Kile depicting a lonely tree on the grounds of George Washington's Mount Vernon during July.

=/\= Out of character description =/\=
An original painting I did to cure my boredom during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Probably one of my best attempts at painting a tree yet!

Nelson Buechner 2097

"Lex orandi, lex credendi." The law of prayer is the law of belief, wrote Prosper of Aquitane in the 6th century.

Passed down and preserved in the Buechner family for centuries, The 1928 Book of Common Prayer and Administration of the Sacraments and Other Rites and Ceremonies of the Church, first edition printing, serves as a worn leather link to ages and belief long since past. It has had a home on the desk of Captain Nelson Buechner since he first took command, and been a companion in his pocket on the tensest Away Missions of his career.

When Nelson is particularly pensive or racked with a decision, he will leaf through the pages, the prayers of the past once prayed and believed, and wonder if his ancestors' had been answered-- if there was an Answer out there for him.

Walter Jones 1659

Walt in his room would have a creative disaster as seen above. Parts, wires, testing equipment, anything he would need to be able to fix something on the ship or tinker with, and of course a cup of coffee.
