Shore Leave Destinations

Description

After a long and challenging mission, every Starfleet officer looks forward to some well-earned relaxation. Shore leave is often the highlight of the year, offering a perfect opportunity to unwind and recharge. With countless destinations to choose from, the only stress should be deciding where to go – because let’s face it, you can’t spend every vacation lounging on the sunny shores of Risa!

For this competition, your mission is to create a Yelp-style review for a destination of your choice. Include a star rating and a short description of your experience—the funnier and more creative, the better!

Feel free to use any tools you like to design your review, including meme generators or graphic programs. For a quick and easy start, I recommend checking out the free templates available at Canva.

The galaxy is yours—choose any destination you like!

Criteria

  • Submissions must include the image you created and short explanation in the competition text box.
  • The image needs to contain a star-rating, the name of the destination, and a text review.
  • Submissions will be judged on adherence to the prompt, creativity, and clarity of explanation. The explanation can be a single sentence, but shouldn't exceed 250 words.

"An Ice Cold Experience"

I thought I'd try something different for my vacation this year—looking for a destination that would really push my limits. Let me tell you, Rura Penthe did not disappoint... if your idea of a "vacation" is freezing temperatures, relentless manual labor, and a 0% chance of seeing a sunset.

Pros:

Scenic Views: I’ve never seen so much ice and snow! It’s like a winter wonderland, but minus the “wonder” and plus the "despair."
Unique Atmosphere: Nothing says "I’m alive" like the sound of your teeth chattering and the endless, oppressive cold. Also, if you enjoy the occasional glimpse of a shuttle flying overhead to remind you that no one cares, this is the place for you!
Immersive Experience: No need to waste time on tourist traps—here, you're immediately thrown into the deep end of survival mode. The local cuisine? Think rocks and snow. If you're lucky, maybe you'll find a scrap of something edible!
Cons:

Atmosphere: It’s cold. REALLY cold. Like, I-can’t-feel-my-fingers cold. I came for a vacation, not for a lesson in how to survive in an Arctic wasteland.
Customer Service: The staff here are rough. If you’re looking for a warm welcome, don’t bother. The guards’ idea of hospitality is "Don't try to escape or we'll shoot you" with a side of "Do you need a shovel for your forced labor shift?"
Escape Options: Let’s just say the only way off this rock is either through an act of sheer willpower or becoming really, really good at digging—guess which one I went with. (Hint: Neither worked out.)
Would I recommend Rura Penthe for a relaxing getaway? No. Would I recommend it for someone looking to get away from it all, including their freedom and dignity? Maybe.

In summary: Rura Penthe is perfect if you enjoy frostbite, hard labor, and wondering if you’ll ever make it back to civilization. 1/5 stars, but they do get a point for consistency—it’s always cold.

P.S. Don’t even bother packing sunscreen. You’ll never see the sun again.

When I read the description for this competition, I immediately thought of the episode "Bread and Circuses" from TOS. I had my Cadet review this planet from his POV. The planetary image is generated from PromeAI and the review image created in Canva.
