Phasers on Stunning

Description

Diplomacy and dealing with strange new cultures is a fact of life for Starfleet. Often captains, diplomats, and those that venture out to deal with new species have to adopt the dress, and culture of the new civilization to put their best foot forward.

With this contest imagine your captain, or crew, having to intermix with a new or established trek culture and having to go through a ‘makeover’ to fit in. Perhaps it is to go undercover with a pre-warp society, perhaps it’s a grand ball on an allied planet, or perhaps they need information from the Vulcan Science Academy and have to don robes. Whatever the challenge they must adopt a new style of fashion other than the Starfleet uniform. The challenge is both what the situation is, use your imagination, and how they react to their makeover. Perhaps they love wearing a fancy ball gown after a career of refusing even to wear a skant, perhaps they feel at home in face paint to fit in during a ceremony on an away mission.

Captain John Sheppard sat in his quarters, reviewing the report on the cultural norms of the planet they were about to visit. He looked at the animal skin that was provided to him, and grimaced. He was not looking forward to wearing it for such an important first contact mission.

He turned to his communication console and began recording his captain's log. "Captain’s Log, Stardate 49162.78," he said, "The crew is preparing to make first contact with a new species on planet Jadarie. The inhabitants have requested that all visitors wear animal skins as a sign of friendship."
