[LAB Phase 1]: Found Artifact

Description

Build a 3D object using real materials to represent an alien artifact discovered in an unexplored area of the galaxy via Underspace. Submit a picture or video of the object created. Objects can be made, for example, out of cardboard, paper, LEGOs, wood or any other material. Drawing and coloring on the object is permitted for details and enhancements, but any additional work beyond that is not permitted (for example: A hand drawn background or digital art enhancements added to the image beyond simple color/contrast correction of the photo). In addition, entries will be evaluated based on the amount of original creation that goes into them. For example, a 3d printed object from a pre-made model will be evaluated differently than a scratch built item as the entrant did not themselves create the model.

Members are encouraged to submit a written explanation of the object to orient the graders as to what it is, but the written explanation is not part of the placement criteria other than to give context to the graders.

Criteria

  • Grading: Submissions will be graded on originality, detail, and obvious effort expended.
  • Medium: Photo or Video of real object.

The purpose of the device is still unknown, but the device has been studied in-depth to date and assumptions drawn from the output. It would appear to be some form of techno-organic subspace repeater device, grown rather than built, so as to seamlessly blend with an environment. Colouration, bio-luminescents and pointed fronds appear to be limited forms of defence for the device to prevent predation by largely herbivore lifeforms found in the proximity of the device.

An ancient mining vessel discovered upon by starships in the depths of the delta quadrant. The limited propulsion systems with a small warp core inside the mining vessel proves it to be only limited of warp 1. The yellow and orange 1x1 bricks represent the weapon systems installed on this vessel to ward off pirates. The top of the vessel is the command center which can only accommodate 3-4 people operating the vessel.

A Starfleet survey vessel recently discovered several drifting technological remnants within a underspace corridor. Among these enigmatic artifacts were a green magnetic cube and some kind of socket of various alloys. Despite extensive examination, these objects, determined to be thousands of years old, remained a mystery.

The breakthrough came when scientists finally combined the objects. The moment the green magnetic cube settled into its base, it emitted unusual energy readings and glowed with a haunting green light. Despite extensive research, the exact origin and purpose of these artifacts remain elusive, as does their ability to store energy for such an astonishing duration. These objects might only be a small piece of a much larger puzzle or the final product. Starfleet is determined to uncover its secrets as they know time will eventually uncover the full story.

Discovered on the Class O Pelagic world that came to be known as Helike by the crew of the USS Helios, these wooden blocks decorated with painted features that match a variety of constellations visible from the surface of the planet.

Initial investigations suggest these are simplified star maps representative of nearby constellations as seen from locations along the only continent's main river system. They feature a number of icons and patterns applied to the timber with paints produced from local dyes with the exception of the golden path marks which feature a mineral composite as yet alien to the small oceanic planetoid.

Quantum dated at almost a century old they show evidence of heavy use by multiple persons and given their discovery within what appears to be a family sized abode, xeno-anthropologists suspect them to be a form of family heirloom.

Retrieved from the USS Halifax - which got pulled into an aperture and landed deep on the edge of the Gamma Quadrant near a barren/dead world. Scans received several pyramid-like structures, mysteriously with atmospheric/breathable air. An away team brought back several statue-like figurines. This one, in particular, consists of a green hue stone, with rare elemental encrusted jewels. It is thought that this figure represents an ancient insect that once thrived and was revered for some reason by the culture that built the thirty-thousand year old pyramid-structures.
