Liberty Division is the dedicated exploratory branch of Sirius Squadron, tasked with expeditions beyond Federation borders to chart new territory and, investigate stellar phenomena, and establish contact with new civilisations. Its foremost duty is to continue the squadron’s responsibilities in the Beta Quadrant, exploring and rebuilding connections across the former Romulan Star Empire. In this undertaking, the division’s three ships operate independently, spreading wide to expand Starfleet’s understanding of the region. Each ship contributes a distinct capability in missions of exploration:

• Liberty: The division flagship and primary deep-space explorer. A versatile and powerful platform, Liberty ventures further into unknown territory than any other ship in the squadron, conducting stellar surveys, mapping, scientific investigation, and first contact operations.
• Mercury: While capable of broad exploration duties, Mercury specialises in missions with a diplomatic element: first and second contact, and negotiations with local powers to secure support and access for further operations.
• Tempest: The squadron’s Archaeology and Anthropology platform, Tempest leads expeditions of cultural and historical study, from the investigation of ancient civilisations to the examination of living societies, including as a prelude to first contact.

When the squadron responds collectively Liberty Division provides front-line scientific and reconnaissance support – scouting volatile areas and their periphery, identifying threats or opportunities, and applying each ship’s specialisation to advance mission objectives.
