Launched in 2370, the USS Hawking was originally designed as a research and exploration vessel, equipped with state-of-the-art science labs and a strong medical suite. Over the years, it played a vital role in scientific investigations, humanitarian relief, and exploration missions. Its advanced systems made it a trusted asset in various Federation operations, particularly in remote or unstable regions.

By the 2400s, the Hawking had aged, and its systems were no longer cutting-edge. It was reassigned to the Eos Frontier Squadron, where it now assists with the squadron’s scientific and medical operations. Despite its age, the USS Hawking continues to prove that with the right crew and purpose, even older ships remain invaluable in frontier operations.
