Summary

Tavek is a Starfleet Captain, currently assigned command of the Security Office for the Fourth Fleet, otherwise known as Bravo Fleet. He’s known to not be your typical Vulcan, having a reputation for being a lot more personable than one might expect. Previously assigned as the Executive Officer to Task Force 47, then also the Commanding Officer of Task Force 47 and also Task Force 86, Tavek now moves into his new role within Bravo Fleet Command, taking charge of the Security Office for the Fourth Fleet.

Appearance

Tavek is of standard appearance for a Vulcan, though one could say that his upper torso is slightly more toned and bulky than average. He stands at 183 cm and weighs approximately 77 kg. He’s got handsome facial features, and piercing dark green/gray eyes. Like most Vulcans, he keeps his hair short and to the normal usual style of his people. Though you’ll rarely see Tavek out of uniform, when you do he is not particularly choosy of what he likes to wear. He can be seen in all kinds of different clothing styles, from his own home world to styles of other cultures and planets.

Personality

Tavek is not what you would call a ‘typical’ Vulcan. He is known for being much less… reserved. Though he still suppresses his emotions and has pointed ears, he often surprises people by just how personable he really is. He’s spent a great deal of his life around humans and serving in Starfleet, and does not share his people’s general dislike of other emotional cultures. In fact, nearly all of his closest friends are all from species other than Vulcan. He is a calm and logical being, but also can be one of the best friends and allies you could possibly have in life.

History

Early Life (2330 – 2355)

Born on the Vulcan homeworld to parents Saren and Kovar, Tavek was initially on course to attend the Vulcan Science Academy just like his parents. His parents shared the common belief among his people that they preferred to remain around their own kind and away from ‘emotional beings’. Having taken the entrance exam and passing it, it wasn’t until he came across a Vulcan Starfleet officer that really made him open his eyes to the possibilities of exploring space. His parents didn’t take it well, and were very displeased with his decision, to the point where he thought his father was actually becoming slightly emotional about it. But in the end, Tavek didn’t give them any choice and made his decision to join Starfleet.

Starfleet Academy (2355 – 2359)

Tavek found that, initially, compared to the rigorous coursework of the Vulcan Science Academy, his studies with Starfleet Academy were slightly easier, though this wouldn’t last long. Once his professors realized his potential, his coursework changed and he was put into more advanced courses with a more rigorous regiment. Tavek wasn’t used to being around other species in this type of volume, so initially it was a little strange for him, but he quickly discovered that he didn’t share his people’s prejudice, and actually ‘enjoyed’ their company.

During the course of the academy, he eventually discovered his preferred area of expertise and decided to pursue a career through security and tactical. He was very adept at hand to hand combat and was proficient in a few different forms of martial arts, but really became a near expert of Suus Mahna. He impressed his academy professors and his fellow students at his proficiency with the martial art form, and was known to some degree through his class for it.

He attended the academy for the normal four years of study, and graduated to the rank of ensign. As with most cadets, they were very eager to learn of what posting they were going to be assigned to straight out of the academy, and Tavek was pleased to learn that he was assigned to an Ambassador class starship which, at the time, was the most prestigious posting one could hope for.

U.S.S. Excalibur (2355 – 2370)

Tavek was assigned as a security officer on board the Excalibur, and was eager to learn all he could from his new role. Since he was a quick study and was top of his class in the academy, the chief of security was quickly very impressed with Tavek. After being on board for only two weeks, the chief decided to hold sparring sessions and classes for his other officers, with Tavek as the instructor, to teach additional hand to hand combat lessons.

Tavek continued aboard the Excalibur for many years, rising through the ranks until he was eventually promoted to Lieutenant Commander and was assigned as the Chief of Security in 2365. He was present on board the vessel when the ship played a crucial role in the blockade against the Romulans during the Klingon Civil War. He continued aboard for a couple years after that incident before being promoted to Commander and reassigned as the new Executive Officer for the U.S.S. Asgard.

U.S.S. Asgard (2370 – 2375)

Having served his entire career up to this point on a single starship, moving to a new environment initially proved challenging for Tavek. He found himself illogically missing his friends on the Excalibur, and that they had occupied a significant portion of his daily thoughts. As time went on, he eventually found a new family on board the Asgard, and was able to better assimilate to his new home.

He served on board the Asgard all the way through the Dominion War. The ship fought in several engagements through the course of the war, most of them successful. There was one engagement in particular that he thought they wouldn’t make it, and were nearly destroyed. But somehow, with the help of his ingenious crew behind him, they were able to escape.

At the end of the war, when the Asgard put in for repairs at Utopia Planitia, Tavek was pulled aside by a couple of Admirals from Starfleet Command, and was promoted to Captain and assigned to the U.S.S. Citadel. He initially felt reservations on assuming the ‘big chair’, but his now ex-Captain reassured him that he was more than ready to assume command. And with that, his next chapter began.

U.S.S. Citadel (2375 – 2401)

Sitting in the big chair for the first time was something he will never forget. It was a culmination of a lifetime of work to get to this moment, and he was proud of his achievements, though outwardly remaining still logical and emotionless. He captained the Citadel through several missions over the course of his six years in command, and was reluctant to let it go near the end, but Starfleet had other plans for him.

Director of Fourth Fleet Security (2401 – Present)

Tavek was approached by Admiral Ramar of the Fourth Fleet and was asked to take command of the fleet’s Security Office. Knowing that this was another next step in his career, he was excited to move into this new chapter and to continue to prove to everyone what he can do.
