Summary
Dr. Senja (pronounced Sen-ya) Solberg is a dedicated officer, calm in demeanour and reliable in her role. She is a beloved mother and eminent scientist, and a meditation teacher. She is a good leader and is rarely disrespected by virtue of universal cordiality and sheer force of efficacy. Senja is a touch-telepath and can sense extreme strong emotion without touch, and so she often avoids physical contact that is skin-on -skin.
Appearance
In human terms Senja appears to be somewhere around 30-35 years old. She has a pale complexion, dark betazoid eyes, pointed Vulcan ears and brows and a kind and pretty face with shoulder-length blonde hair. The corners of her mouth are slightly upturned giving her the appearance of amiability almost permanently. In terms of build Senja might be called fairly average, she stands 165cm or 5’5″ and weighs around 11 Stone, or 69Kg, being neither particularly thin or carrying extra weight. Senja is fit as her duties require but not overtly toned or sporty.
The few times she is seen not wearing a uniform Senja often wears simple, modest clothing in greys, greens and browns. She prefers clothing well-cut with little or no pattern. She knows what suits her and is well-presented. She wears a golden ring on a necklace which is rarely removed.
Personality
Senja is universally calm and unflappable, the epitome of equanimity, contentment and happiness. She is modest, kind, intelligent, placid, effective, possibly a little mundane. She is almost universally liked but not often loved due to being somewhat unemphatic. However she is often a focus of attention by those commonly mistreated or misunderstood as she treats all with equal respect, no matter what. One can never be concerned about judgementalism, ego or drama with Senja. She won’t speak often of logic in the way of some Vulcans, but remains logical in her outlook. She has an understanding of emotional behaviour but doesn’t often display too much of her own. She is capable of some outward signs of emotion, a smile or a frown, but that is largely the extent of things, remaining uniformally placid and unwaveringly poised.
In Vulcan circles Senja will often use her Vulcan name – N’Vala. In general society she will respond to N’Vala, Senja, Doctor, Commander, Ma’am or Sir all with equal acceptance.

Senja was born in Fredrikstad in Norway in June 2318. It had been the wish of her father that she be brought up and educated on Vulcan and her mother agreed, but the Vulcan climate, especially the heat did not marry with her pale Betazoid complexion, and so the family returned to Earth in 2326. The young Senja found this jarring, as while the climate of Norway suited her much better, her alien aspects were more obvious in a society less-focussed on emotional discipline.
Since returning from Vulcan Senja had often discussed with her parents the reasons and what aspects of her makeup were acquired from each of them. This fostered an interest in Biology and Genetics which Senja took through school. Jointly studying a Vulcan syllabus and emotional control with her father and attending regular schooling, Senja graduated in 2337.
After school Senja took a few years on Betazed with her mother with frequent trips to Earth and Vulcan to master the particulars of her joint heritage and telepathic makeup, to control her emotions, develop interests and to care for her mother who found respite from mental illness by being present and active in Betazoid society. In 2344 Senja returned to Earth with her mother and became a meditation instructor working at a small outpatient-hospital in Oslo catering for mental health and wellbeing as an instructor and occupational health therapist. In 2346 Senja attended Cambridge University in England for a four-year masters degree in Genetics, a subject she was still interested in throughout her first thirty years. After this Senja proceeded directly into a Doctorate at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, where she met Rakesh, the son of one of her Doctoral tutors. The two were married in 2358 and went to live on Rakesh’s ship, the U.S.S. Majestic where Senja reprised occupational health therapy and meditation coaching in a civilian capacity.
In 2360 Senja and Rakesh had their first child, a boy named Taylor. Taylor acquired a younger sister in 2365 who the couple named Luna.
At the escalation of tensions between the Federation and Dominion, Senja, Taylor and Luna were evacuated from their quarters on the U.S.S. Majestic and returned to Earth to live with Senja’s mother and father in Fredrikstad. Later that year the Majestic was destroyed during Operation Return and Rakesh was killed. Senja and her children stayed in Norway thereafter to raise Taylor and Luna with the help of their grandparents. In 2378 Senja returned to being a meditation instructor while her children were at school.
In 2385 Senja’s daughter Luna announced her intention to join Starfleet. Senja and Luna looked into the process together to understand what was required for entry and at length mother and daughter both took the entrance exam and were accepted to Starfleet Academy together in 2386.
Senja and Luna graduated well from the Academy in 2390. Luna became a pilot, being assigned to the California Class U.S.S. Carlsbad. Senja was, given her Academic qualifications, a science officer. By 2398 she was Chief Science Officer of the California Class vessel U.S.S. San Jose. After Frontier Day she was reassigned to the Sovereign Class U.S.S. Valkyrie.
