Shealynn Rhodes Miados

Early Life (2366-2384)

Shealynn Allacia Rhodes was born to her Trill parents in Portland, OR.  They were part of a small Trill enclave in the more rural parts of Portland.  She attended a Trill school and was mainly isolated in her early life.  She graduated at the top of her class in 2384 and was notified that a symbiont had become available.  Her father escorted her to Trill.

Trill Joining (2384)

She was chosen to join with Miados, a 100-year-old symbiont who lived in the body of a Starfleet engineer for the last 60 years.  An accident on duty killed the Trill host, and Rhodes was a 95% match.  She accepted, having wanted to be a host for much of her life. It was an intensive process, but she found a calmness from Miados as they completed the joining.  Rhodes added his name to hers and became Shealynn Allacia Rhodes Miados, with her given name Miados, which was the traditional terminology for a joined Trill.  She decided to apply to Starfleet and pursue her engineering.

Starfleet Academy (2384-2388)

Miados was a tough symbiont initially, and Shealynn’s first year was marked with mistakes, errors, and lower-than-average grades.  She was referred to a Trill instructor in engineering over that first summer.  Liya Philo became instrumental in helping Shealynn better connect with Miados.  Shealynn returned her sophomore year and became a star student within a few months.  She earned the nickname ‘The Road’ after a particularly challenging project in Engineering Operations where she took over her large group and taught them the basics of road construction from old Earth so they could understand how processes had changed over the years.  It became an inside joke among her peers, and she enjoyed it.  As a cadet, she became a student leader in her junior and senior years, working with underclassmen to help them acclimate to the academy lifestyle and culture.  She was awarded a leadership award upon graduation.

Starfleet Career (2388-2401)

Ensign Miados was assigned to the USS Lakeshore Drive, an aging Miranda Class starship from 2388-2390.  She applied for the position of Deputy Chief Engineer during her first year aboard and was accepted.  She served with distinction until she applied for the position of Deputy Chief Engineer on the Excelsior class USS Mackenzie.  She was awarded the position in 2390.  She was promoted to full lieutenant in 2391 in recognition of her excellence in duty and crew relations by her captain.  It is decided that the Mackenzie will undergo a complete refit to be upgraded to an Excelsior II class.  Miados is invited to take part in the process and accepts.  Work began in 2392 and was completed in December of 2394.  In recognition of her efforts, experience, and knowledge gained, she was promoted to Chief Engineer and appointed to serve with Captain Alexandra “The Hammer” Pantuso.

She served as Chief Engineering Officer from January 2395 to April 20, 2400.  In that time, she earned the respect of her crew and fellow senior staff.  She was promoted to Lieutenant Commander on January 15th, 2400.  Captain Alexandra “The Hammer” Pantuso announced her retirement and encouraged Miados to seek the next step in her career as the Mackenzie was slated for refits and repairs.  Miados applied for a chief position on the Nebula Class USS Kiowa Range and was accepted.  Upon the Mackenzie’s return to the Alpha Quadrant on July 1st, she learned of the death of Chief Katsumi.  She received messages from Fourth Fleet Engineering requesting that she meet with Captain Walton as she returned.

USS Mackenzie (7.1.2401-Present)

She met with Captain Walton, and after a short discussion, she was again assigned as the Chief Engineering Officer of the USS Mackenzie.
