Laid-back and jovial, Commander Ó Taidgh’s easy manner belies his brilliance as an engineer. On the surface he can seem irreverent or even sloppy, approaching situations in his own way and at his own pace. But he is also a born problem solver and excellent team leader, good at picking out talented engineers and prone to giving them a long leash in a way which invites innovative approaches and, when it pays off, brilliant solutions. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and enthusiastically greets any new colleague as a new bosom friend or, if appropriate, a rival for him to enjoy challenging.
