T'Rhe

T’Rhe’s early life was not pleasant. Resulting from her mother’s time as a prisoner of war during the Federation-Cardassian War, T’Rhe could not find acceptance among her Vulcan kin, and making inroads with her Cardassian family was entirely out of the question. While her mother’s family tolerated her, their biases–even unspoken–against Cardassians made T’Rhe feel unwelcome. This lead her towards bitterness and self-destructive behavior.

In 2360, when T’Rhe appeared to be in her early teens, matters came to a head. Unable to find a solution to their familial difficulties, T’Rhe and her mother came to Earth to live with an old friend of T’Vaan’s. Fortunately, T’Rhe was immediately accepted by Cindy Chiang for what and who she was, and this helped to pull her back from the brink as it were.

Once she finished secondary school–2365, T’Rhe struck out on her own, trying to find her father. She found him in what would be later known as the Demilitarized Zone, but the resulting contact did not go well. Her father held her for two months, and T’Rhe was finally rescued by Federation forces. Her father managed to leave the planet before he could be brought to trial, and T’Rhe does not know where he is, nor does she wish to. She has heard rumors that he is leading a group of pirates near Klingon space, but these have not been confirmed.

As a result of this ordeal, T’Rhe decided to find something to do with her life as far away from Starfleet as possible. She took up cooking, becoming a professional chef for a time. When Starfleet began recruiting in 2373 however, T’Rhe responded to the call, feeling that her duty as a Federation citizen outweighed her distrust of Starfleet.

She entered Starfleet in 2374, going through war-time training beforehand. Her war service was relatively uneventful–she was posted to an intelligence base, analyzing various types of data and developing strategic recommendations.

After the war, she returned to the Academy for further training and also adopted a human boy, made an orphan by the war. This softened her outlook on life, and today she is less closed off than she has been, though it can still be difficult to get to know her.
