Summary
Gerald Christopher Hunt is a Starfleet Captain in command of Starbase 415.
Starting his career as a security officer on board the Sovereign, he attained his first command at age 35 of the Kyushu and has continued to serve with distinction. He values professionalism, discretion, and honesty above all else. When it comes down to missions, he is generally a more by-the-book kind of person but has slowly been learning to bend the rules just a tad for his personal gain. He still needs to be reminded that there are limits, though.

History
Gerald Hunt was born on November 24th, 2360 on board the Yamaguchi to the parents of Adrea Hunt and Lyod Hunt. He did not remain on the Yamaguchi for very long, as at the age of 7, he ended up being amongst the several survivors of the Yamaguchi that managed to escape on a shuttle versus those who managed to reach an escape pod before the ship’s destruction to the Borg Cube. Unfortunately, both his parents were killed in the initial attack which left him to be sent to live with his grandparents back on Earth.
Over the years as he grieved the loss of his parents, he was determined to hate Starfleet and made a promise to himself that he would never join Starfleet. However, as he got older and wiser, and listened to his grandparents better than he had when he was younger, he learned to redirect his hatred to someone else and refueled his old childhood ambitions to join Starfleet that he had before he lost his parents. Of course, during his Academic years at Starfleet Academy, he then learned what happens when someone is assimilated. Individualism is lost. All self-control is practically non-existent. The fine line between right and wrong doesn’t exist. This information did not make it easy for him to forgive, but it gave him reason to let go of his anger and focus on his one true path; becoming a Starfleet Captain.
After his graduation from the academy, he served on board the Helios, an Akira-class starship for about a year up until the Prodigy event where his ship responded to a distress call and was then immediately taken over by a virus right after the ship answered the communication signal. It was immediate chaos after that, but after it ended and they had regained control of their ship, the order to abandon the ship was given. While some crew were being transported off, Hunt remained to assist in evacuating those who were stuck in main engineering. Several support structures had collapsed, blocking almost all exists, except for the main door, that under safety protocols, had shut due to a coolant leak. The engineers were able to temporarily stop the leak but it was not going to remain that way for long. With his phaser at a very high setting and several power cells later, he managed to cut a hole big enough for the engineers to crawl through before the temporary fix had failed and coolant sprayed everywhere. This act awarded him a commendation and a promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade. From there, he served on board the Redemption during long deep space exploration missions.
By 2386, Hunt was offered the position of Second Officer on board the Kyushu, a Luna-class starship, under the command of Captain Adam Daniels. During such time, Hunt witnessed or watched news feeds of major events, the attack on Mars, the Romulan star going supernova, the great Romulan Star Empire splintering into two additional factions, the Free State and Republic with the Empire stuck in the middle and the attacks from the Sovereignty of Kahless to which the Kyushu has defended itself from a few attacks while operating along the Federation-Klingon border.
By 2390, Hunt was promoted to First Officer and remained on board the Kyushu where they had participated in Operation Gatecrasher. His final mission as the first officer, got him involved with several Klingon raiding vessels that attacked a Federation border colony. Hunt ended up leading the remainder of the attack against them after Daniels had been killed aboard the ship. He managed to thwart their attacks and took many of the Klingons as prisoners. In the end, he successfully escaped the enemy ships and was able to return the captured Klingons back home to be tried by the Klingon justice system and likely imprisoned on a frozen moon somewhere. His act of taking appropriate command of Kyushu and saving the lives of 379 crew, as well as thousands of lives in the colony, has earned him the promotion to Captain.
Over the years as the commanding officer of the Kyushu, they had participated in several situations that involved the Cardassians and the Klingons. The one moment that tested his command and trust amongst his crew, was the moment when the Omega Directive appeared on multiple screens and Hunt had to be discreet to the letter of Starfleet’s orders, especially when he was informed of how it was happening across the galaxy and was given new orders under the classified operation. It made it difficult for Hunt to give out orders without explanation, there was some struggle and some conflicts, but when they found a world formerly occupied by the Tkon Empire, the discovery and examination of an ancient empire became a relief valve for the amount of tension on board.
A year later, Kyushu was involved in operations in the Paulson Nebula during what was called the Century Storm and managed to save thousands of lives by loading the Kyushu to its emergency limit, which forced them to tax the life support system over a hundred percent to maintain stability across the ship. However, Kyushu was not involved during operation Sundered Wings but was involved during the Blood Dilithium crisis in the Delta Quadrant.
Presently, Captain Gerald Christopher Hunt has been assigned as the new Commanding Officer of Starbase 415, located in the Nereus System.
