Melissa Redford

A well-meaning woman who sometimes lets her gut pull one over on her brain, Melissa is a Science cadet specializing in xenogenetics and getting a bit too excited for her own good. The daughter of an engineer who could never manage to leave behind her experiences in the Dominion War, Mel has spent years motivated by the last wish of her long-passed grandmother: try and leave the galaxy a bit brighter than the state she found it in. She’s got a hunger to explore the frontier, and to hear her tell it, she thinks Starfleet is the best way to go and see what’s out there – though perhaps she isn’t quite willing to admit just how much of her motivation is some effort to make up for a mother whose dreams were stolen away in the conflagration of a violent era.
