Val'Kyr Legba

Val’kyr is uncertain of her parentage.  Her mother, now deceased is the only one to know the truth of her father.  The father she has known for all her life does not share her name, but he did love her as his own.  Val’kyr in many ways followd in hs footsteps, being more comfortable working with her hands than with the clerical work her mother was employed in.  To that end Val’kyr attended trade school rather than college.  it was there that she began to work in metals, having taken a shop class on a whim.  Itwas here that she learned to weld, and her projects and inventions took on a new aspect as she no longer relied on rudimentary woodworking and bolts.

Given the options when she graduated, her stepfather advised her to gothe starfleet route.  Hehimself wasa mason on earth, and had always regretted never leaving his home planet and seeing much of the galaxy.  Despite the fact that it would separate them, Val’kyr took his advice and enteredStarfleet as an enlisted machinist’d mate.  It did ot take long for her industriousness and skill with tools got her noticed.  She entered the Petty Officer ranks after her first tour of duty.  It was then that she was offered a position at Utopia Planitia.  She was reticent to accet though.  She would, she claimed, rather go places and see things.  Therefore when a position openned on a travelling Hazardous Engineering team she jumped at the chance.
