Summary

Mason joined Starfleet academy as soon as he was old enough to enter, and he has never looked back. He is quick on his feet, has a sharp mind and can keep his cool under the most tense of situations. Mason prides himself on being the best officer he can possibly be, taking bits and pieces of former officers he admired when serving with them and incorporating them into his style of command. His only real weakness could be considered his ability to form personal relationships that go beyond that of a normal friendship as he takes the uniform very seriously and leaves little room to devote to his personal life.

Appearance

Weight: 180 lbs, 81 kgs

Eye Color: Dark Blue

Physical Description

Mason is lean and strong, though one wouldn’t describe him as overly fit or muscular. He keeps a full but short beard at all times, rarely ever shaving his face as he does not care for the way he looks clean shaven. He likes to keep his hair styled in a wavy curled fashion and uses hair product to achieve his desire look. He takes his appearance and his physicality quite serious as his image and career is very important to him. One of Mason’s best features would definitely have to be his eyes as their unique color always seems to catch people’s attention. Mason also speaks with a British English accent.

Personality

Mason is quite witted and extremely popular among his groups of friends for his renowned sense of humor. He is known for keeping the mood very light and naturally easing the tension of the room. His former commanding officers noted how remarkably Mason keeps his head in even the most dangerous and tense situations, and as such he prides himself on the way he handles himself through those situations when they arise. Though the same cannot be said when it is concerning matters of a more personal nature as Mason is most likely one of the most clumsy individuals you’ll ever see when having a conversation with a potential partner. He has devoted his life to Starfleet and his career, and has left little to no room for personal relationships in that nature.

History

Early Life (2364-2382)

Mason was born in London, England to loving and wonderful parents who were absolutely thrilled to welcome their first and only child into the world. They had been on leave at the time of his birth as both of his parents served in Starfleet on board the U.S.S. Madison, an Excelsior class vessel. Initially, he traveled with them on board the vessel up until the Dominion war began, then his parents decided to send Mason to Earth to live with some close friends of the family. There was no reason to jeopardize his safety unnecessarily, especially with the losses the Federation was taking in the war.

Mason was only eleven years old when he received the devastating news that his parents’ ship was destroyed during the second battle of Chin’toka with all hands lost. Though he was initially very depressed, it ignited the drive and desire within him to join Starfleet and to follow in his parent’s footsteps, hoping one day to make them proud.

Starfleet Academy (2382-2386)

Initially Mason was very intimidated when he joined the academy, not knowing if he could live up to the expectations he set for himself after his parents’ death. However, after a brief adjustment period, he discovered how much he really loved the academy. It wasn’t very long at all when he found out he had been a natural pilot during one of his early flying courses. The instructor was so impressed with Mason’s natural ability and instincts that he recommended this career path to him, and he had accepted graciously. Mason, leaving no avenues unexplored, took all related courses and before very long graduated the academy with honors.

U.S.S. Iowa (2386-2396)

Because of his natural ability, Mason had been assigned to the U.S.S. Iowa, a Galaxy-class starship, straight out of the academy as a flight control officer because of the recommendations of his professors. It was a tremendous opportunity and dream to be assigned to a Galaxy-class starship at such a young age, and Mason intended to make the absolute most of it.

Mason thoroughly enjoyed his time on the Iowa, taking regular shifts on the bridge as the conn officer. His exemplary service earn him several promotions, eventually being made lieutenant commander and the ships second officer, while also holding the position of chief flight control officer simultaneously. He continued on board the Iowa for some time all the while earning the respect and admiration of his crew mates, especially that of his captain. Eventually, his captain was so impressed that she recommended him for promotion to Lieutenant Commander and he was offered the position of Second Officer/Flight Control Officer on board the U.S.S. Panorama, an Obena-class vessel.

U.S.S. Panorama (2396-2401)

Being offered the position as second officer was an immense honor for Mason, and one step closer to sitting in that center chair and commanding his own ship someday. He worked tirelessly at proving himself, earning the respect of those he served with on board the Panorama.

Mason continued on the Panorama for several years until the opportunity came along for the U.S.S. ____. Deciding to jump at the chance to serve on a ____-class vessel, he immediately put in for the CONN position, hoping to make an impression on the new commanding officer.
