Summary

Born Jeffrey James Murdock in the city of London in England, Earth to James and Helen Murdock in 2341. The Murdock family moved to the United States after James Murdock was offered a position Starfleet Instructor specialising in Helm Operations when Jeff was just 5, Helen spent most of her time looking after his two young brothers (David and Brian) and one sister (Rebecca).

History

Jeff was accepted after his second attempt to Starfleet Academy in 2359. He graduated in 2362 majoring in Command and taking his minor in Helm Operations. He later continued on to Command School along with his academy friend James Edwards. Jeff doesn’t talk much about his time in the academy and especially his relationship with the already mentioned James Edwards.

His first assignment was onboard the USS Miranda as Assistant Flight Control Officer under the command of Captain Thomas Hunter. Their first mission was to assist Starbase 17 with a Cardassian threat.

Jeff was then given the great opportunity, his life long dream… to command his own starship, the USS Akagi in 2378. His wife decided to transfer from Starbase 17 and to join her husband aboard the USS Akagi as the new bar owner.

In early 2379, after running into the C’hakilians the USS Akagi sustained heavy and heading back to Spacedock, Earth for a complete refurbishment and upgrade..

The Akagi participated in a successful joint mission with the USS Odyssey, under the command of Captain Luke Duncan in the August of 2379. The two ships rescued several members of a new alien race that had been attack by the C’Hakilians and returned them to their homeworld.

Meanwhile a new colony was under construction within Sector 611 known as Kovar Colony and Jeff were seconded to oversee its development and help setup trade routes with nearby civilianisation. The U.S.S. Akagi was ordered to provide the colony with support and act as defenders of the colony until natural defences where in operation in early 2380. For his actions on Kovar Colony and stopping a war with the Valerians, Jeff was promoted to Rear Admiral and placed in Command of Task Force 21, where he regained command of the U.S.S. Akagi NCC-32563-A in 2381.

During a mission along the C’hakilian and Federation border, the crew of the U.S.S. Akagi discovered a dead planet that once maintained life and a civilisation that once helped the C’hakilians during the C’hakilian and Federation war. Unbeknown to the crew, the planet still harboured a virus that has been killing the C’hakilian people since the war and threatens their way of life. Meanwhile, the C’hakilian Government designated the planet to be destroyed with their new weapon first detected by the U.S.S. Miranda capable of destroying a single planet. As the away team left the Akagi for the surface C’hakilians entered the system, and with no means of contacting the team due to radiation on the surface, they were left on their own. Jeff was the only person to have direct contact with the virus after removing his helmet unaware of the virus. Unfortunately the damage was done and within 72 hours Murdock was announced dead by Akagi doctors. A service was held for Jeff in 2381 on Kovar Colony and a statue now proudly stands in the main square within New Hampton. In 2382, a new city ‘Murdock City’ had finished construction in honour of the Rear Admiral, long the Cape of Kovar – he is completely unaware of these two facts.

During a routine mission along the C’hakilian Border, the crew of the U.S.S. Torchwood discovered a deserted science facility deep inside a small moon around the 3rd planet of the Lantra System. They laying in suspended animation were a human man that was later discovered as the once presumed dead Jeff Murdock. It was discovered that he had spent the last 18 months in and out of Suspended animation being tortured and having numerous mind probes to gain as much information as possible about the Federation. He had also been injected with C’hakilian DNA to tests the effects of the virus that was killing the C’hakilian Empire. As a result of the suspended animation he lost a year of his life without aging a day . The dead Jeff Murdock was actually a clone meant to infiltrate the Federation, but the C’hakilian’s under estimated the effects of the virus on humans and therefore taking advance of their prisoner.

After recovering with his family by his side, Jeff returned to active service in 2384 as a Federation Representative on Kani Colony. However, following the Hobus incident, he was asked to retake command of the U.S.S. Akagi with the reduced rank of Captain as part of Task Force 47. Where he served until 2388.
