Appearance

Height: 5’4″
Weight: 120 lbs.
Eye color: Brown
Hair color: Brown

Personality

Introverted and distant, Rey shows signs of low level abandonment issues. She is reckless in regards to her own safety and has negative reactions toward authority figures. Teamwork is challenging for her, and Rey’s attention span is limited. Sarcasm eludes her. Despite these drawbacks, Ford is highly intelligent and a skilled mechanic.

In combat, Ford is a scrapper, much more at ease with hand-to-hand or a blunt instrument than a phaser. Her exercise regimen is light, but so is her appetite and prefers weight training to cardio. Ford’s determination is her superpower. Stubborn, she excels at beating the odds by the skin of her teeth.

History

Early Life

Abandoned as an infant in a port city on Bajor, Rey was taken in by a local orphanage. As a human, she was named after a human benefactor, Raymond Ford, who gave generously to the Bajoran War Orphans Fund. Throughout her childhood years, the orphanage provided a sanctuary for Rey and the other orphans. In this way, Rey led a relatively normal life until her teenage years.

Bored with lessons of the prophets and the emissary, Rey left (escaped) the orphanage at the age of 16. Though thankful for the years of care and sanctuary, she had to go her own way.

Escape and Discovery

Rey worked odd jobs on Bajor for over a year. Her plan was to buy a ship and go out on her own, but she could never quite save enough. Eventually, Ford hooked up with an illegal salvage crew and left Bajor. For the next few years Rey bounced from ship to ship within the DMZ, as she worked with black market chop shops and found catharsis in salvaging and restoring old ships.

A few years later, Rey had acquired a ship of her own. An emergency landing forced her on Veloz Prime near an old Maquis colony. Though the colony was destroyed by Cardassian-Dominion forces, a few remnants of the Maquis remained. There, Rey was captured and interrogated by former raiders. During this time, she learned the fate of her parents. Both were killed in the Cardassian-Dominion massacre. She also discovered the planet of her birth, Volan III.

The raiders promised to help repair her ship for a favor. She was to smuggle a nerve agent to a Cardassian colony within the DMZ. Though Ford had broken the law many times, she was not a cold blooded murderer. She agreed to the raiders’ terms, but later dumped the several canisters of nerve agent out into space.

A Fateful Meeting

As luck would have it, a Federation starship later happened upon the canisters. The USS Leda (Luna class explorer) confiscated the nerve agent and traced the ship’s signature to Volan III. After a lengthy chase, Rey was caught and detained by the captain of the Leda, Charlotte Fawkes. Rather than hand her over to the authorities, Fawkes requested she be assigned to the Leda. Rey hated the idea, but had little choice in the matter.

Ford was assigned to shuttle maintenance as a civilian contractor and was given limited access to the ship’s systems. On her own, Rey was fine, but other crew members were challenging. She often grew irritated at small inconveniences or people who tried to get close. For weeks Ford ducked medbay, but when she was ordered to see a doctor, Rey was diagnosed with Level 1 ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).

With this information in hand, Captain Fawkes made it a priority to ease Rey into Starfleet life. Complete opposites, the two argued incessantly at first, but later, something clicked for them both. The two became romantically involved and eventually engaged.

Promotion and Starfleet Academy

Rey was eventually given a field promotion to “acting- ensign’ and assigned to engineering. Not long after, Ford joined Earth Starfleet Academy. Though it meant time away from her fiancée, she would rejoin Fawkes as an officer. She later transferred to Starfleet Academy at Mellstoxx III.

Rey is currently a Cadet Senior Grade at Starbase Bravo’s campus.
