Summary

After a spotless record at the Academy and at her first posting on the Pasadena, Lieutenant Chapman was on the Lakota when her Captain was implicated in a plot against the Federation President. Though she was later cleared, the accusation of the Captain and the crew put was a low point in Lieutenant Chapman’s career, and she put in a transfer request to another ship. After serving valiantly in combat against Dominion forces on the Allegheny, Lieutenant Chapman receives orders to head to Starbase 75 where the USS Denver is in need of a new Chief Tactical Officer.

Appearance

Elisabeth is 28, though her girlish looks, freckles, and spots make her appear about 23 years old. Though she is a Trill/Human hybrid, she is more human than Trill, though she did inherit the spots on the sides of her head and body and longevity. Her hair is a strawberry blonde, more red than blonde, and when it’s not up, it comes down to the middle of her back. She usually keeps her hair braided, or wrapped around in a bun to keep it out of her way. Her eyes are a hazel-greenish color, and she has a slight Irish accent, though it’s very faint. She stands about 5’3″, and weighs about 130 lbs.

History

Elisabeth was born on September 11, 2346 to Sierra Chapman and an unknown Trill male. The story of Elisabeth’s conception is a complicated and convoluted story, and little is known about the circumstances surrounding her birth. What is known is that she was born at the Starfleet Medical Center in Paris and her birth was registered. Her mother, Sierra Chapman was a civilian analyst for the Office of the Federation President, and worked closely with the Starfleet Commander in Chief. Despite working with the Starfleet CinC, Sierra never had much desire to join Starfleet, preferring instead to serve the Federation in a civilian capacity. From a young age, Elisabeth was a quick study, showing a lot of interest in combat, martial arts, and military history. She trained in various martial arts, though her favorite would be Taekwondo. By the age of 16, she had achieved a black belt in her chosen art, with a discipline to match. It was very little surprise to anyone that knew her when at age 18, she announced her intent to seek admission into Starfleet Academy. Her Academy Entrance Exams were complicated, and she very nearly failed, but managed to put together an admissions package that impressed the Admissions Committee and so she was offered a spot at Starfleet Academy. To this day, the official records on what Elisabeth did or what happened are sealed by a special order from the Office of the Superintendent of Starfleet Academy; when she is asked directly, Elisabeth refuses to answer.

Because Elisabeth was half-Trill, she reported to the Academy campus on Trill for her general education requirements, where she learned a lot more about her culture and where she came from. After her sophomore year, she was assigned to the USS Zion, an old Miranda-class starship that served as a Starfleet Academy Training Ship. Elisabeth served as the Chief Tactical Officer, and she distinguished herself in that role by employing many cunning tactics in battle simulations against other ships. After her tour on the Zion, she returned to Starfleet Academy in San Francisco, where she specialized in Starfleet Security, learning about starship weapons and Federation battle tactics. On a command simulation where she was Chief Tactical Officer of an unnamed Nebula-class Starship, Elisabeth employed tactics pioneered by other Nebula-class ships; she employed the primary and secondary torpedo launchers to enable the warheads to do maximum damage to break through the shields. Due to her creative tactical thinking, she was offered a joint bridge command/starship tactics and security specialization which would allow her to resume her training in Starfleet Security while also making her eligible to work as a command bridge officer and eventually gain her own command.

After her year in San Francisco was over, she was ordered to report to Starfleet Academy on Andoria Prime; here she learned combat techniques and was taught hand to hand combat, phaser rifles and handheld phasers (type-1 and type-2), and other infantry tactics and maneuvers. During this time, she also successfully completed the command track program and was posted on a second training cruise as First Officer onboard the USS Kingston, a Centaur-class starship, recently retired and relegated to Starfleet Academy as a training ship. During the tour on the Kingston, she refined what she had learned in the classroom. This was her last training cruise before graduation and commissioning into Starfleet as an Ensign.

Elisabeth’s first posting was as a helm/conn officer on the USS Pasadena, a California-class starship. She describes this time in her life as “uneventful,” citing that “being on the Pasadena was the most normal ship deployment I ever had.”

After her uneventful tour on the Pasadena, Elisabeth received orders transferring her to the USS Lakota. She served as the Lakota’s combat officer during a critical time for the Federation, and onboard the Lakota, she was a witness to history. There is not much that is known about her service onboard the Lakota because Starfleet Command, during their investigative hearings into the role of Starfleet during an alleged attempted coup against Federation President Jaresh-Inyo, sealed the records of the Lakota’s crew and transferred most of them to other ships. She was forbidden to speak about the specifics regarding the events that she witnessed on the Lakota, though the lessons she would carry with her stayed with her for life.

Elisabeth was transferred to the Allegheny, a Nova-class starship as a tactical officer. She served well, and successfully maintained her post, which allowed the Allegheny to hold the line during a skirmish against a Cardassian incursion.
