trel was born in cardassia but grew up in a conquered colony, were his father was tasked with administration, he grew sheltered and with limited contact with the union, but with propaganda drowning most of his life nonetheless, still growing in a predominantly alien planet made him meet collaborators and civilian leaders alike which gave him an oportunity to interact with non-cardassian in his formative years and to be somewhat more tolerant by the time of the dominion war
