Summary
Vain and stuck-up, Commander Christopher Forrest leads runabout missions and commands the fighter pilots aboard the USS Arcturus. He’s extremely effective as an officer but has little patience for incompetence. His early career was spent as a bridge officer, and he spent several years as an adjutant, so his burning ambition is to earn a command of his own.
Appearance
Quite handsome, Forrest is 183 centimeters tall and weighs 82 kilograms, with a muscular build. He spends a substantial amount of time in the gym to maintain his fitness. With his blond hair, blue eyes, and square jaw, he fits the stereotype of a young and ambitious officer to a tee.
Personality
Commander Forrest has experienced quick success in his career, which has only reinforced his natural tendencies towards arrogance and vanity. While he can be quite charming when he wants to, especially to get something he wants, he’s often brusque with subordinates, or people he thinks should be his subordinates. He is extremely self-confident, to the point of not being willing to admit when he doesn’t know the answer to something. As an adjutant, he is effective because of how organized and driven he is, as well as his willingness to do what it takes to accomplish his orders.
History
Early Life (2371-2389)
Christopher Forrest was born in New York City in 2371, the son of two Starfleet officers, though he has no memories of them as they were both killed a few years later during the Dominion War and he was raised by his grandmother. From a young age, he was naturally athletic and intelligent, excelling in school, but also standoffish and withdrawn. Once he was able to comprehend what had happened to his parents and what Starfleet stood for, he made entering Starfleet Academy his one and only goal. By high school, his acceptance to the Academy felt more like a birthright than anything, but he always had a deep-seated desire for his parents to be proud of him.
Starfleet Academy (2389-2393)
Forrest’s status as a war orphan of Starfleet officers killed in the line of duty ensured that his application would at least get to the interview stage, but thanks to his dedication to his fitness and academics in high school, he was able to pass the entrance exam. While he didn’t have the highest score, it was a comfortable pass. As a student at the academy, he entered degree programs in astronautics and interstellar relations, with the direct goal of becoming a captain as soon as possible. These two fields were not related, and so he took a significantly heavier course load than his peers, diving into his studies not because he loved learning but driven by ambition. In his junior year, Forrest was admitted to Red Squadron, gaining much more flight training time than he would have had otherwise.
USS Leyte Gulf (2393-2396)
Upon graduation as an ensign in 2393, Forrest was posted as a flight control officer aboard the Akira-class heavy cruiser Leyte Gulf, which embarked a wing of Valkyrie-class fighters for her peacekeeping mission along the Romulan border. Forrest found himself both on bridge duty and assigned to fighter duty, as fighter pilots were rotated in and out to ensure sufficient time for rest. He distinguished himself several times in skirmishes with raiders, earning him the attention of the ship’s captain, Fleet Captain Brett Logan. Logan promoted Forrest in his second year aboard the Leyte Gulf to Chief Operations Officer, making him one of the youngest bridge officers on the ship. Operations was a step towards command, as it had him managing the ship’s resources and other systems, and he relished the shift in duties, even if it took him out of the cockpit and out of the red uniform he preferred.
As an operations officer, Forrest found success by not caring about other officers’ feelings when it came to following the captain’s orders. He was aggressive in resource management and systems use authorizations with departments to ensure a high efficiency rating for the ship. This increased responsibility also came with more away team duty. In 2396, he was on a mission to one of the many refugee worlds that Starfleet had settled in the previous decades when his team came under fire by Orion pirates. When the executive officer was injured by a disruptor blast, Forrest was able to pull him to cover under fire and led the rest of the team to subdue the raiders. With a commendation for valor and a promotion to Lieutenant, Forrest became Fleet Captain Logan’s adjutant.
Adjutant (2396-2400)
Technically speaking, an adjutant is not formally a part of a starship’s chain of command, but it is a position with substantial power. Forrest is a man who relishes power, and he quickly acclimated to the task. When he began the position, Fleet Captain Logan was commanding a task group of other ships along the Romulan border, which meant that Forrest was tasked with communicating with captains and officers on these other ships. He also served as the captain’s eyes and ears on the Leyte Gulf itself, ensuring that orders were communicated effectively and handling many reports on his own. After three years, he had developed a strong working relationship with the fleet captain, but he’d also developed the habit of implying that anything that came out of his mouth was sponsored by his boss. Still, Logan found him useful as someone who didn’t have a problem playing ‘bad cop,’ and so he kept him on when he moved to Deputy Director of the Fourth Fleet’s Expeditionary Group.
USS Columbia (2400 – Present)
Forrest was promoted to Commander in 2400, and assigned as the first officer aboard the USS Columbia, after four years of service under Fleet Captain Logan.
