Atticus Randall

Atticus Scott Randall MD (b. June 6, 2368) was born in Leeds, United Kingdom to Oliver and Olivia Randall, who were both professors at the University of Leeds.  Atticus has an older brother who is a science officer aboard the USS Ares. Atticus went to Alwoodley Primary School, and Allerton High School, graduating in 2386.

Atticus became interested in Medicine at thirteen after discovering a series of Holo-Novels revolving around Dr. House.  He also had a keen fascination with naval history and would often go on adventures with Admiral Lord Nelson on the Victory, or James Cook on the HMS Discovery.  He traveled to Antarctica aboard the HMS Erebus and participated in the mutiny aboard the HMS Bounty.  He usually took on the role of the ship’s surgeon during those holosuite adventures, but he would occasionally take different roles.

STARFLEET ACADEMY

Atticus entered Starfleet Academy at 18 years of age, pursuing the pre-med program in 2386. Knowing the Academy’s medical school only took the top ten percent of applicants Atticus took his undergraduate studies seriously, thus it left little room for extracurriculars or social life.

On May 28, 2390, Atticus Randall graduated from Starfleet Academy with a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Biology with a 4.1 and was commissioned as an Ensign.  As valedictorian, he gave the commencement speech.

That summer before Medical school he met Hannah Glass while hiking the Andes in Chile.  Hannah was a resident of Brooklyn, New York, and was working with a group of Archeologists and Anthropologists excavating Mayan ruins in South America.

Atticus entered medical school in 2390. He discovered a love for surgical specialties.  He quickly settled on general surgeon figuring that that specialty would serve him best onboard a starship.

In 2393 Atticus and Hannah married at St. John’s church in Leeds, England, and the couple permanently relocated to London.  They welcomed their first child Elizabeth, later that year.

With a new family,  and child at home Atticus’ grades suffered,  but he was able to graduate medical school in 2394 in the top three-quarters of his class.

RESIDENCY

Atticus completed his five year surgical residency at Starfleet Medical. He split his time between San Francisco and London.   In 2397 he and Hannah welcomed their second child Jacob.

At the completion of his residency in 2399 he struggled with the decision to pursue his dreams of serving aboard a starship or being close to his family and staying in the Sol System.   Ultimately it was Hannah, who had given up her career to raise the children urged him to pursue his dreams, and they would join him on ship where possible.
