Maya Egil

Bajoran Female

Character Description

Maya Egil was born on January 11th, 2378 on Bajor. She was the only child and grew up to be a wonderful, obedient child. She loved to sculpt and to run on the beach when ever her parents would take her. When she grew up, her father taught her how to go wind sailing on the waters, which her mother protested but couldn’t very well stop them from having their fun. When she became of age, and learned the history of Bajor’s part in the Dominion War before joining the Federation in 2377, she chose to enlist into Starfleet. After her training in both Security, and Engineering, along with an extended course into the Hazard Team Training Program, she was assigned to a border outpost as a Security and Technician. Because of this, she graduated as a Crewman Second Class rather than 3rd Class.

She served on board the outpost for some years, met another enlisted member named Koyda and immediately fell in love. They were in fact about ready to take a vacation back to Bajor to have a marriage ceremony when the conflict with the Hunters of D’Ghor rose, cancelling their plans and having almost everyone was pulling double shifts on the outpost, trying to monitor communications and keep the station running tip top shape so that they wouldn’t have a single hour or day of no comms, and simply kept reporting to Starfleet Command with any vital information they got. But then both Maya and Koyda were activated for a Hazard Team mission and were assigned to the Delta Squad under the leader of Ensign Vakai.

During the course of their missions, crossing into The Triangle, destroying a camp and an outpost to gather intelligence data for Starfleet Command, along with stealing a D12 B’Rel Class Bird of Prey and defending the Haydorian system from the D’Ghor assault, Maya had been promoted several times, reaching the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class.

When the conflict with the D’Ghor was over and that the team was disbanded, to be sent back to their normal duties as Starfleet, Vakai pulled the team aside and spoke to them about an extensive training program that would get them commissioned. Vakai’s own words were, “I’ve grown to trust every one of you with my life. I absolutely plan to become Captain some day and have command of my very own starship. In that time, I would want all of you to be apart of my crew, but not just any crew. I want you all to be part of my Senior Staff. So I put in a request, a big request, to have the four of you go through this extensive training program, and become Commissioned Officers.” And there, Maya, and the rest of the Non-Commissioned Officers of the Team, took the program together and graduated as Ensigns of Starfleet.

What little did Maya, and the rest of the team knew, was that there was another Captain out there, who had been keeping an eye on their careers and had requested that they all serve on board their ship, including Ryker and Vakai themselves. So as of this moment, Ensign Maya is serving as a Security Officer on board the USS Centaur.
