Ashley Gomez

Ashley Gomez was born on December 13th, 2372, on board one of Starfleet’s Starbases. She was the only child in the family and was essentially a Starfleet child. Her parents were Starfleet Officers and at the time they worked separately like how Starfleet would prefer but eventually, they settled down being on a Starbase posting, rather than separate starships, and after about a year on board the Starbase together, she was born.

Not a lot could be said about Ashley’s childhood. She was simply a good student over the years at the schools on board the Starbase and when she became of age, her parents were rather insistent that she apply for Starfleet Academy and become a Commissioned Officer. But after experiencing firsthand her parents being officers themselves, her father being a Doctor and her mother being a Scientist, both seniors in their department, and the conversations that they would have about having responsibilities and such that they do, she was discouraged from becoming a Commissioned Officer, so she instead enlisted. Not entirely what her parents wanted, but they were still proud to say the least, that she was going to be part of Starfleet.

She underwent her training, even took an extra course for the Hazard Team Program, and as soon as she graduated, she was assigned to the Devron Fleet Yards as a simple technician until the incident with the Hunters of D’Ghor sprung up and activated her as a Hazard Team member and was assigned to the Delta Squad under Command of Ensign Vakai. During the course of their missions, crossing into The Triangle, destroying a camp and an outpost to gather intelligence data for Starfleet Command, along with stealing a D12 B’Rel Class Bird of Prey and defending the Haydorian system from the D’Ghor assault, Gomez had been promoted several times, reaching the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class.

When the conflict with the D’Ghor was over and that the team was disbanded, to be sent back to their normal duties as Starfleet, Vakai pulled the team aside and spoke to them about an extensive training program that would get them commissioned. Vakai’s own words were, “I’ve grown to trust every one of you with my life. I absolutely plan to become Captain someday and have command of my very own starship. At that time, I would want all of you to be a part of my crew, but not just any crew. I want you all to be part of my Senior Staff. So I put in a request, a big request, to have the four of you go through this extensive training program, and become Commissioned Officers.” Although Gomez was reluctant, she felt that after all, they had been through, she should at least honor the wishes of her former team leader and maybe surprise her parents as well. So she made the decision and the rest of the Non-Commissioned Officers of the Team took the program together and graduated as Ensigns of Starfleet.

What little did Gomez, and the rest of the team knew, was that there was another Captain out there, who had been keeping an eye on their careers and had requested that they all serve on board their ship, including Ryker and Vakai themselves. So as of this moment, Ensign Gomez is serving as Engineer Officer on board the USS Centaur. Later she was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and assigned to the Sovereign. When Captain Henry Maxwell took command, she was then promoted to full Lieutenant and reassigned to Hazard Team Engineer. After the incident on the Sovereign‘s last mission during the Blood Dilithium crisis, she retains the same position but is now at Starbase 415.
