Summary
Amanda enjoys being nowhere else but in a maintenance shaft or inside a jefferies tube. She also enjoys casual drinks after a job well done, and eating sushi if not eating rations while busy in a maintenance shaft. What she dislikes the most is not completing her tasks on time and ending up spending a little bit of overtime getting it done, which results in her getting grumpy and having a bit of a poor attitude towards others. She also hates slow people, making her impatient. Along with her dislikes, men make random advances when she does not care for them. She is assigned to Commander Walker’s team at the Avalon Fleet Yards at a Class 9 Drydock as a Technician.
History
Amanda Cooper was born in San Fransisco, California on October 22, 2369, to George Cooper and Jolene Cooper. She was the second and final born of her family, having an older brother by the name of Samuel Cooper. She was a bit of a tyrant for a little girl, always wanting the attention and always picking on her older brother, which her parents were growing tired of and more disappointed. But it was when her big brother that was in a soccer ball accident that had another kid accidentally slamming his lower leg right into her big brother’s skull that changed her around. He suffered a major concussion and they had feared that he wasn’t going to make it. Due to the swelling of his brain, they had to operate. After the operation, he was in a coma for a few weeks before he woke up and were able to determine that he would make a full recovery.
Over the rest of her years, she was just a simple, normal, loving and caring child like any other. Though after the accident her big brother had, he became more interested in tinkering and building things, in which case she would join him, as she would join him in just about anything and everything after that accident he had, as she wanted as many happy memories with her brother as possible, in case another accident were to ever happen to him or her that would result in them losing their lives. This lead to her interest in joining Starfleet Academy but she had done some readings and research of her own and learned that she does not have to be an Officer to enjoy the wonders of tinkering inside a starship or space station. So after graduating High School, instead of applying for Starfleet Academy to be an Officer, she enlisted and served the one year requirement, graduating from the Academy as a Crewman Third Class on July 12th, 2388
(2388-2390) Starfleet Corps of Engineers – Enlisted, 40 Eridani A Starfleet Construction Yards
Amanda was assigned to the Starfleet Constructions Yards in 40 Eridani A, and essentially spent most of her time working on starships, doing whatever orders she was given. Eventually she met a man by the name of Kevin Walker, noticing how much time he spent working, at which point led to her asking him some questions and eventually at one point, they hit it off. But not in that way though, as she made it clear to him that she was not into men. But she did enjoy his dedication and enthusiasm, and she made that perfectly clear to him that she very much would love to spend the same amount of time he is, but as an Enlisted, she wanted to be careful on pushing the line, at least until she made a name of herself, like the infamous Chief O’Brien.
(2390-2395) Starfleet Corps of Engineers – Enlisted, USS Crazy Horse
When Kevin accepted the choice that he was given, one of the few people he approached in person was Amanda Cooper. He told her that he wanted her to be a part of his team on board the Crazy Horse, that he respected her own work and the dedication she put into her work. Of course she accepted and spent amazing years on board the Crazy Horse, going where ever the Commanding Officer, Kevin, took the ship. At first in the beginning, she took the job because he asked her to but she wasn’t all too certain as to the joy it had that Kevin seemed to think it had…that is until she saw some of the stations and outposts that they went to. To be honest, she wasn’t as thrilled as Kevin was and she thought maybe it was because he was a man but she scratched that off as being sexist and just figured that was his personality. It wasn’t until later on in the years serving on board the Crazy Horse that she learned from Kevin over a few drinks that he has done a lot of tinkering and crafting when he was young and seeing stations and outposts like these still running and being handed the task to keep them running is why he enjoyed it so much. She still didn’t quite get it until they found that Regula Station that floated there, abandoned, and saw all the amazing parts that were surprisingly still intact and still in decent condition that she saw after Kevin ordered the station to be stripped apart as much as they could that would fit on the Crazy Horse.
When the news came in about the Klingon raids along the Federation Border from some renegade faction, that Amanda felt concerned about the safety of the Crazy Horse, but Kevin seemed rather confident that they will do just fine. That is, until right after they finished their were on a border station that a surprise attack of two Birds of Prey had caused some damage to the Crazy Horse, forcing them to return to Beta Antares Ship Yards for a more…well she wouldn’t say it but they considered it…’upgraded’ star ship.
(2395-Present) Starfleet Corps of Engineers – Enlisted, USS Don S Davis
Amanda wasn’t entirely thrilled with the whole calling an Ambassador Class an ‘upgrade’ from the Excelsior Class, but she was indeed fitted to handle combat in case it happened, and she was redesigned interior wise to be more fitted for their tasks and then some. With Science and Research facilities stripped and replaced with extended cargo bays and an extended shuttle bay for more supplies, equipment, workbees and cargo shuttles, she knew that they were likely going to see more action while the heat along the Federation Border grew hotter. But she will continue to go where Kevin went, he was her best friend now, over the years they spent together, chatting, sharing childhood and other crazy stories, she enjoyed his company as he did hers, but she felt something was amiss. She felt that she needed something much more, something that would fill this hole, something she could step away and say ‘Yes… I did this. Me. And I had a huge part in it.’ Repairing and upgrading these outposts and stations, as well as being part of ‘damage control’ due to this D’Ghor business, wasn’t as ‘filling’ as she thought it would be. But she remained on board the Don S Davis, in hopes that something will come along.
