Summary
Alexander Ivanov Zandusky stands 6’1″ tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds. He has blue eyes and his hair borders on brown and blonde. He works to keep in excellent physical condition and enjoys practicing the martial arts that he is familiar with. When he was in Starfleet Academy with his twin brother, Daniel, Alexander would regularly remark that he wanted nothing more than to command a ship. While he holds command as a possibility in the future, he finds Strategic Operations his passion. He was introduced to it in his 3rd year at Starfleet Academy, based on an assessment test for optimal vocation assignments, and hasn’t looked back since.
History
Alexander Ivanov Zandusky was born on November 18, 2358 alongside his twin brother, Daniel Ignatius Zandusky, in the city of Baltimore on Earth. Alexander and Daniel’s parents were both active duty Starfleet. Captain Jarek Mitchell Zandusky, the father of the twins, was the commanding officer of the U.S.S. Zhu Xi and was on assignment at the time of their birth. Captain Liara Margaret Zandusky worked at the Starfleet Engineering Corps, and commanded one of the Mobile Response and Repair Teams. Following the birth of both boys, Liara took leave and stayed aboard the Zhu XI with Jarek. When the boys were 3, Liara and Jarek arrived at an impasse with concerns of her returning to work full time. As a result, Liara and Jarek divorced after 9 months of attempting to come to an arrangement to keep the family together.
Near their 4th birthday, Alexander and Daniel returned to Earth with their mother. Liara returned to work, having her sister, Elise, watch the young boys while she was on duty at Starfleet Engineering. Liara worked tirelessly to make sure both of her sons received an adequate amount of attention, encouragement and developmental exercises. Early on, Liara would note that Alexander seemed to be exceptionally good at “figuring things out” based on little, or even no, information. While Daniel seemed to delight in taking things apart, and then putting them back together. Both boys worked together. Around the time that Alexander, and Daniel, turned 8, Liara sent them to live aboard the U.S.S. Zhu Xi with their father, while she was assigned to a deep space recovery mission. She worked hard to ensure that she sent messages to her sons regularly, and she finally returned around Alexander’s 10th birthday. At this time, Jarek had accepted a promotion to Commodore and had also taken a teaching position at Starfleet Academy.
The family remained primarily on Earth until Alexander, and Daniel, applied to early admittance into Starfleet Academy, just before their 16th birthdays. They were both accepted on a probationary basis; meaning they had to be on their best behavior and perform at their academic best. As expected, Daniel focused heavily on an engineering-heavy curriculum. Alexander surprised most by choosing the courses that best set him up for a command track, he performed well, but several of his instructors noted on his transcript that he didn’t seem to be enjoying the material, and, as a result, wasn’t engaged.
At the start of his third year at Starfleet Academy, Alexander was administered a vocational aptitude test by one of his academic advisors, to better help him decide what he wanted to focus on. The results of the test suggested to the advisor that Alexander might excel, and enjoy, a position in a field where analysis and extrapolation were considered valuable commodities. The advisor spoke with Alexander and then introduced him to some course changes for the year. Alexander felt lost at this point and in the hopes that these changes would provide some interest, he accepted them and dove in head first.
Alexander began to enjoy his classes, and went from barely scraping by, to excelling. He had gone from talking about having his own command by 40, to keeping his mouth closed and listening to what was going on around him. He had learned the value of paying attention to a room, and how to gather information. At the completion of his third year at Starfleet Academy, Alexander was promoted to Senior Grade Cadet and assigned to the U.S.S. Jalento’sil for his Senior Cadet Cruise. The Jalento’sil was a scout vessel assigned to patrol the Neutral Zone and ensure no violations of the associated treaty took place, from either side. While aboard the Jalento’sil, Alexander was encouraged by the ship’s Chief Intelligence Officer and assisted in the active analysis of data collected by the ship’s sensors.
Following his Senior Cadet Cruise, Alexander returned to Starfleet Academy and had doubled down on the Intelligence Field. A month into his senior year, Alexander was approached by Starfleet Intelligence. Upon graduation from Starfleet Academy, Alexander accepted the rank of Ensign and a position in Starfleet Intelligence as an Intelligence Analyst. He served in this position for nearly 2 years before being assigned to {CLASSIFIED – LEVEL 10 CLEARANCE REQUIRED}.
Following the completion of his assignment to {CLASSIFIED – LEVEL 10 CLEARANCE REQUIRED}, Alexander was assigned to Starbase 224 as a Strategic Intelligence Officer with the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. He remained there for a little over 4 years, before being promoted to Lieutenant and being reassigned to Starfleet Command as a Strategic Operations Officer following the devastating attack on Mars conducted by rogue synthetics. He remained on Earth for just over 2 years before being promoted to Lieutenant Commander and being reassigned to Starbase 36. In total, Alexander served aboard Starbase 36 for approximately 7 years; first as the Assistant Chief Strategic Operations Officer, and then as the Chief Strategic Operations Officer.
In 2393, Alexander was promoted to Commander and assigned to the Beta Quadrant Command Center as its Strategic Operations Specialist. He served in this position for nearly 3 years, before being reassigned to Hawkeye Island by Fleet Admiral Sevlek, the Beta Quadrant Commanding Officer.
