Bravo Fleet
Summary
Captain Isaac Kelvin Rasmussen was born to scientist parents at a research station on a frigid colonial planet.
He grew up with access to excellent scientific resources and the self reliance of a frontiersman.
His parents were dedicated academics and tended to leave Isaac to his own devices, there were no other children at the establishment so he tended to make his own entertainment or interact with adults.
Isaac was more interested on hands on activities than pure science.
By his early teens he was committed to applying to Starfleet Academy.
He attended and applied himself diligently- passing with High Honours and the Rank of Lt(jg).
He served his Cadet Cruise upon a respected vessel of the Galaxy Exploration Command acquitting himself admirably.
His career trajectory has been impressive within the Exploratory Arm of Starfleet, resulting in the receipt of his first command sooner than is typical. A Commander was required for the USS Brawley at short notice to address a minor crisis. Isaac was serving as the First Officer of an Exploratory cruiser in the vicinity and was recommended by his Captain. Being approved for an acting Captaincy for the emergency.
Currently Issac Rasmussen is acting as brevet Captain aboard the USS Brawley- awaiting confirmation of rank and post.
Rasmussen is young for his post and whilst having unquestionable potential and proven competence, he lacks the decades of hard earned practical experience of most Federation Captains.
Appearance
Isaac Rasmussen stands slightly shorter than average height at 1.65 meters.
He is broad shouldered and has an athletic physique. Weighing around 78kg.
He has recently adopted a beard which he feels adds some gravitas to his appearance.
He has a fair complexion (tanning easily with exposure to sun), along with very dark eyes and black hair.
He tends to be well presented and takes care of his appearance.
Personality
Isaac is quiet and attentive. He prefers to observe and comprehend situations before engaging directly. He will question and investigate a situation as thoroughly as a situation permits. Though can act decisively in a crisis and accept responsibility for his choices.
He believes that there are always a number of solutions to any problem or event, and that the best solutions should be compassionate, timely and as straightforward as possible.
He presents as calm and unhurried, but actually experiences powerful emotions and drives. He tends to manage these through martial disciplines, orienteering and meditation supported by his adherence to the philosophy of Stoicism.
He is unfailingly polite. Supportive and seeks to be consistent and fair.
Occasionally irrational and/or cruel behaviour will cause him to react with anger at which times his judgement may became flawed.
History
After a childhood on a challenging arctic world, growing up at a remote science outpost, Isaac applied to Starfleet Academy. He followed an advanced program targeted at prospective Tactical and Bridge Command Officers.
He particularly enjoyed fieldcraft and orienteering and spent time trying a range of activities such as rock climbing, scuba, martial arts and hiking.
He was gifted and dedicated, and graduating with High Honours and a commission as Lt(jg).
He enjoyed a series of assignments within the Exploratory command where through a combination of performance, talent and luck he has experienced a rapid rise to the post of brevet Captain of the USS Brawley.
He has served as a Security/Tactical Officer, Bridge Command, Damage Control Officer and Away Team specialist.
An engineering support vessel it is far from a glorious command, and whilst a practical individual Isaac is not an engineer by training.
He received the command following an incident where a neutral planet had experienced a catastrophic series of events and was in desperate need of technical assistance.
The Brawley was in dry dock at the nearest starbase, with a skeleton crew but lacking a suitable command officer.
Isaac’s Captain recommended that his first officer (Isaac) be given the command.
This was duly done with Isaac and his crew of technicians providing invaluable assistance to the troubled world.
Isaac is now holding the Captaincy and awaiting an Admiralty decision on his formal appointment or other disposition.
