Summary

Ever since Sural can remember, he has had ambitions to join Starfleet and to explore space and visit new worlds. As a former Starfleet Intelligence officer, he has received extensive tactical training as well as having learned several various forms of martial arts from several cultures. Sural is a pretty atypical Vulcan and doesn’t share his race’s general disdain for other cultures that they would otherwise deem ‘too emotional’. Overall, Sural is a loyal and fierce friend, and has an unwavering dedication to Starfleet and the Federation. Now that his time in Starfleet Intelligence is over, Sural is looking forward to continuing to advance his career and to exploring new worlds and new civilizations.

Appearance

Sural is of standard appearance for a Vulcan, though one could say that his upper torso is slightly more toned and bulky than average. He stands at 183 cm and weighs approximately 77 kg. He’s got handsome facial features, and piercing dark green/gray eyes. Like most Vulcans, he keeps his hair short and to the normal usual style of his people. Though you’ll rarely see Sural out of uniform, when you do he is not particularly choosy of what he likes to wear. He can be seen in all kinds of different clothing styles, from his own home world to styles of other cultures and planets.

Personality

Sural is not what you would call a ‘typical’ Vulcan. He is known for being much less… reserved. Though he still suppresses his emotions and has pointed ears, he often surprises people by just how personable he really is. He’s spent a great deal of his life around humans and serving in Starfleet, and does not share his people’s general dislike of other emotional cultures. In fact, nearly all of his closest friends are all from species other than Vulcan. He is a calm and logical being, but also can be one of the best friends and allies you could possibly have in life.

History

Early Life (2345-2365)

Sural was born on Vulcan and spent a majority of his youth there. Right from the beginning, Sural didn’t seem to agree with the general consensus of his people about their general arrogance regarding other cultures, and it indeed caused a rift in his own family and especially with his parents for a while. It also didn’t help that it was Sural’s desire to leave Vulcan and join Starfleet, a first for any member of his family. Though they were against his decision to leave, they ultimately knew the choice was his to make, so his parents saw him off just shy of his twentieth birthday so he could attend Starfleet Academy.

Starfleet Academy (2365-2369)

The academy was a breeze for Sural. He excelled at all of his studies, earning near perfect marks in all of his classes for the majority of his time there. He was also fortunate to know what he wanted to major in early on in his studies, and had the opportunity to take several additional security and tactical related courses. Sural continued to impress his instructors at the academy, many of them attaching glowing letters of recommendation into his permanent record. Towards the end of his senior year, Sural was approached to join Starfleet Intelligence, and though his true desire was to serve on board a starship and explore space, he agreed to the assignment nonetheless, wanting to serve however he could.

Starfleet Intelligence (2369-2392)

Sural was a member of Starfleet Intelligence for nearly 23 years. He started out as a low ranking logistics officer, but quickly proved himself and was promoted to field operative within his first two years of duty. As a field operative, Sural was all over the alpha and beta quadrants on a variety of different assignments, never staying in one place for too long. Instead of being an operative that was assigned to a sector or planet long term, Sural was constantly on the move, and probably visited over 200 different worlds during his career. He has built a vast network of contacts on many different worlds, and did his duty with distinction. During his last year with Starfleet Intelligence, after he returned from his latest assignment, he ultimately made the decision to request a transfer, and was then posted to Starbase 220.

Starbase 220 (2392-2399)

Though it wasn’t a starship, which is what Sural truly wanted to be assigned to, he found great enjoyment being posted to Starbase 220, much more than he previously thought possible. Though life was pretty routine, it allowed him to stay in one place for the first time in over twenty years, and it was a welcome change of pace. He acclimated to his new life and duties as a security officer assisting the station chief, and before long earned the respect of the entire senior staff, including the station commander. Though the commander didn’t want to lose him as he was an outstanding officer, he knew that Sural’s true desire was to serve on board a starship, and therefore he pulled a few strings with Starfleet Command and managed to have Sural assigned to the U.S.S. Airdor as Chief Tactical Officer.

U.S.S. Aridor (2399-2401)

Finally having the opportunity to serve on board a starship was such an amazing experience for Sural, and he quickly did all he could to make the most of it, getting off to a fast start impressing the senior staff and captain. Though unfortunately, his time on board the Airdor would be cut short as the ship would suffer catastrophic damage during the Frontier Day incident. He acted heroically this day, personally saving several crew members and getting them off the ship to safety. After the incident, the Airdor was put in for long term repairs and reconstruction.

U.S.S. Gagarin (2402-Present)

With his old ship still in drydock, Sural spent the majority of his time overseeing the refit personally. Starfleet Command eventually reassigned Sural to a new vessel, the U.S.S. Gagarin, as their Chief Tactical Officer.
