‘All things in balance’ is the mantra that Jaikan had drilled into him in his childhood home amongst the burning volcanoes of Tyrin Prime. The young Vulcan captain learnt long ago that order and chaos are inextricably linked, and one cannot function without the other. On the surface, Jaikan retains the classic Vulcan stoicism, but his calm facade hides a tempest of emotions that he has honed into a tool over the years. Raised by an unusual colony of Vulcans who sought to understand the twin natures of Vulcan identity, the capable and confident officer long ago decided that repression was not the same as control.
