Belana Jants

Early Life

Belena Jantz was born April 9th 2370 on the planet Mars, to Orion parents who had moved during the 2360s after the political situation on Orion changed significantly. She was raised for much of her early life seeing starships take off from the Martian drydocks and this led to a interest in becoming a Starfleet Officer, which did lead to disagreements with her parents. Who only moved to the Solar System to keep safe from the slave market, and were not expecting their daughter to become a “slave to another force”.

Academy Life

She enrolled into the Starfleet Academy in 2388, and graduated in 2392 with additional training for tactical. she demostrated a partially aggressive aplitude during phaser training which showed promise for a tactical position in the future, and had a good level of command ability when ensuring the safety of personnel during a practice holodeck practical assignment.

Early Assignments

following graduation in 2392, she was assigned as a security officer aboard the USS Nova for 3 years, 2 years into a 5 year mission, there was not much of note, though the ship did fall under attack by pirates while surveying a anomalous dust cloud in frontier federation space, she was able to protect the captain and critical crew members during a boarding attempt although she was injured in the process.

Getting into gear

Later in 2395, as a Ensign, she was assigned to the tactical console aboard the USS Kerboros, a Defiant-class vessel that was assigned for patrols in frontier territories, there was not much of note except for a good working spirit and command ability that allowed the Captain of the Kerboros to nominate her for the Kobayashi Maru Test, she completed the test in 2400, demostrating a strong willingness to protect her crew and personnel even in the face of danger, despite knowing the high risks of aiding the transport and keeping the ship going as long as possible against 3 powerful enemy ships.

As a result of this test, she was assigned command of the California-class, USS San Diego in 2402 following a year of orientation on another California-class to observe the working standards of how such ships operated.
