Appearance
Coop cuts an imposing figure at 6’4″, with a broad, powerful build that speaks to both his physical training and battlefield experience. His clean-shaven scalp contrasts with a well-kept beard, framing sharp features and keen blue eyes that miss little. His skin carries a deep, weathered tan—more earned than recreational—hinting at long hours under alien suns rather than on holodeck beaches. Perhaps most distinctive are the tattoos: bold, deliberate, and rare among Starfleet officers, they trace parts of his story in ink—some visible beneath his uniform cuffs, others hidden, like the memories they mark.
Personality
Coop is a tactician shaped by war, legacy, and quiet resilience. The son of a fallen hero and a renowned xenopathologist, Coop carries his father’s disciplined grit and his mother’s analytical mind into every mission. Known for his calm under fire and razor-sharp instincts, he blends operational precision with a surprising depth of empathy—qualities honed across crisis zones from the Romulan border to Dominion-held space.
Behind his dry wit and encyclopedic knowledge of old-Earth sports and pop culture lies a man who believes deeply in the principles of Starfleet, even as he confronts the gray areas of tactical service. His leadership is understated but unmistakable, earning him the trust of his peers and the quiet respect of those who recognize a future captain in the making.
Coop doesn’t seek the spotlight—he seeks the right call. And when it counts, he makes it.
History
Lieutenant Jeremy “Coop” Cooper serves as a tactical officer aboard the USS Victory (NCC-97500), a newly recommissioned long-range exploratory vessel launched as part of Starfleet’s renewed commitment to exploration and diplomacy in the aftermath of the Romulan collapse and the repeal of the Synth Ban.
Born on 2nd November 2365 in Nottingham, England, Jeremy is the only child of Commander Alana Pierce-Cooper, a Starfleet xenopathologist and respected lecturer at Starfleet Medical, and the late Captain Darius Cooper, a decorated tactical officer who served with distinction during the Dominion War. Darius was lost in action during the Tevak Border Ambush in 2382, while commanding the USS Brahe on a routine patrol mission along the volatile Tzenkethi frontier. Jeremy was just 17 at the time.
The loss of his father was a defining moment in Coop’s life. Though offered counseling and support, he insisted on completing his final preparatory year before admission to Starfleet Academy, a decision that deeply impressed his instructors. His Academy entrance essay, “The Duty That Survives the Uniform,” became required reading within the Strategic Operations Division’s ethics seminar for three years following its publication.
Coop graduated from Starfleet Academy’s Strategic Operations Division in 2387, at the height of the Romulan refugee crisis. His first posting was aboard the USS Minotaur (NCC-78914), an Akira-class cruiser patrolling the unstable former Neutral Zone. He quickly earned his first commendation during the Skorvan Outpost Incident, where his decisive tactical programming of the Minotaur’s phaser arrays helped repel an Orion raiding party targeting a Romulan refugee colony under Federation protection.
During his time on the Minotaur, Coop was mentored by Commander Shira Talas, the ship’s Andorian XO and a Dominion War veteran. Her insistence on composure under fire and her tactical philosophy—“every fight you avoid is a life you save”—had a profound influence on Coop’s developing leadership style. Her eventual promotion to captain would inspire him to pursue a command track of his own, though he remains firmly rooted in tactical service.
Following promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade, Coop transferred to the USS Kurosawa (NCC-84832), a Luna-class vessel tasked with escort and crisis readiness during the tense lead-up to the Fenris Ranger Accords. He directed the defense grid during the Melastri Corridor Standoff, preventing a potential Romulan separatist attack against a neutral convoy. For this, he received the Starfleet Tactical Citation and commendation for inter-service coordination.
He next joined the USS Tempest (NCC-91364), an Intrepid-class vessel engaged in deep reconnaissance and classified interdiction missions. As a tactical analyst during Operation Silent Ember, he helped disable a network of cloaked weapons platforms in former Tal Shiar territory without triggering open hostilities. His precision planning and calm under covert pressure earned him the Meritorious Service Medal and promotion to full Lieutenant.
Before joining the Victory, Coop served as Assistant Chief of Security aboard the USS Argus (NCC-76128), stationed along the volatile Beta Quadrant frontier. There, he led counter-boarding actions during the Kharthan Rift Skirmishes, where rogue Dominion-aligned factions launched coordinated strikes against key Federation assets. His actions during the Faros Station Incident, in which he successfully extracted trapped Federation diplomats during a sabotage-induced systems lockdown, earned him recognition from Starfleet Command for leadership in crisis conditions.
Despite a life shaped by duty and loss, Coop is known among his crewmates for his dry humor, near-obsessive knowledge of 21st-century Earth Pop culture, Rugby and racing history, and his quiet loyalty to those he trusts. He maintains regular contact with his mother, who continues to serve as a Starfleet Medical lecturer and Federation xenomedicine advisor. He also keeps in touch with Captain Shira Talas, who remains a career and personal confidante.
