Bravo Fleet
Summary
An Orion who’s currently aspiring to become a science officer. He came from a pirate family but ran away and enrolled in Starfleet instead.
Personality
Thaassen is often outwardly friendly and kind. He’s a bit idealistic in a way typical of newer Starfleet recruits, though it’s tempered with decades of experience. However, he still always believes everything can be improved, and is very inclined to pacifism and diplomacy when possible. Like anyone who succeeds in politics, Thaassen has a manipulative streak and can be very determined to get his way. He knows at least 10 languages and wants to know more. Sometimes he gets words confused between different languages, which can be embarrassing. As for taste in food, he does enjoy traditional Orion dishes like wing slugs, and finds it somewhat comforting, but he’s happy to try all kinds of things. He has a particular soft spot for ice cream and will almost definitely love anything similar. His main goal in being president is to improve health and quality of life throughout the galaxy, especially newer Federation planets and new allies of the Federation.
History
Thaassen was born in 2355 to Orion pirates. His younger brother was born when he was 2. When Thaassen became a teen, he was expected to participate in raids more, and he hated it. He quickly found out he could get out of this by instead offering to tend to the wounded, and would request more books on his medicine. His brother was able to similarly offer to help with modifying weapons and repairing ships. When Thaassen was 17, his brother found a way to secretly contact the Federation and leave their parents’ ship without anyone noticing. The two boys were picked up and ultimately brought to a Starbase to finish high school. It took a lot of adjusting, and initially they struggled. Especially Thaassen, since he was placed in the last year and knew a lot about some subjects like math and science but lagged behind in others like English and History. However, due to his scientific and medical knowledge, as well as ambition to improve, he managed to be admitted to the Starfleet Academy afterwards. He was surprised but extremely glad he got in.
After graduating from the academy, Thaassen started out at a Starbase hospital, where he met Karis Arasha, a Risian woman who was also a new Starfleet officer. They briefly dated, but it was kind of a wreck, and they broke up when Karis transferred to a different posting. Later on, Thaassen was placed in a few other positions before being granted his own command.
