Aric Thorne is a Human-Romulan Hybrid and the current Commanding Officer of the USS Edmund Hillary. Thorne is a precise and quiet man, who speaks little but commands attention. He is perceptive and intuitive, often reading a room long before other catch on. Beneath the exterior lies a dry wit and a fiercely protective streak. Thorne prefers thought over action, but when pressed he is decisive. He is a leader with an unshakable sense of purpose.
History
Personal History
Aric Thorne was both to Velora Thal, a Romulan defector and Jonathan Thorne, a Human civil servant. Growing up in the shadow of the Neutral Zone, Aric learned early on to balance his Romulan and Human sides; often keeping his Romulan side locked up. This dual life shaped him into a cautious, but diplomatic Officer.
Entering Starfleet Academy in 2379, he majored in Xeno-linguistics and Interstellar Relations. After graduating in 2383 he was assigned to the USS Perseus, as an entry level analyst. It was here that Aric serviced for almost 7 years, until he was recruited into Starfleet Intelligence.
Over the next decade, Aric specialized in Romulan affairs, tracking political shifts, analyzing treaties, and violations in political matters. By, 2398 he had been promoted to Commander and was assigned to the Deep Space 12 Squadron near the Romulan border.

Aric is an emateur shef, a passion inherited from his mother. He loves to prepares classic Romulan dishes along with a variety of dishes from cross the Federation. He’s known to host dinner parties in his quarters periodically for his staff. His ‘fusion’ style cooking has won over many hungry crew members looking for a meal that doesn’t come from a replicator.
