Michael Dawazo

Michael Dawazo grew up in Gander, Newfoundland, Earth, surrounded by rich cultural traditions and a deep appreciation for history and music. From a young age, he was fascinated not just with his own heritage but with the idea of how cultures evolve—especially those beyond Earth. After watching his first holodocumentary on early Federation first-contact missions, Mike became captivated by the diversity of alien civilizations and the challenges of cross-cultural communication.

Encouraged by a family friend who was a retired Starfleet linguist, Mike enrolled at Starfleet Academy with the aim of becoming a xenoanthropologist—a specialist in understanding alien societies, customs, belief systems, and social structures. He believes cultural understanding is just as critical to Starfleet’s mission as science and diplomacy.
