History
Early Life (2370 to 2388)
Tom Bradley was born on Earth, in the vibrant city of Chicago, where the warm glow of Lake Michigan sunsets and the bustling streets of the Loop instilled in him a sense of energy and possibility. Growing up in a family with a strong military tradition, Bradley was surrounded by the values of duty, honor, and loyalty. His father, Captain James Bradley, a retired Starfleet officer, played a significant role in shaping Tom’s early life. Captain Bradley’s stories of adventure and service to the galaxy sparked Tom’s imagination, and he soon developed a sense of duty and responsibility that would guide him throughout his life.
As a child, Bradley was fascinated by technology and strategy. He spent hours playing complex strategy games like three-dimensional chess and reading about historical battles. His favorite books were about the great military leaders of the past, such as Napoleon Bonaparte and Sun Tzu, whose tactics and strategies he studied and analyzed. Bradley’s room was filled with models of starships, aircraft, and other military vehicles, reflecting his growing interest in the technical aspects of warfare and exploration. He also had models for all the ships named Enterprise, going back to the old wooden sailing ship.
Bradley’s parents encouraged his interests, providing him with access to educational programs and resources that helped him develop his skills. His father, in particular, played a significant role in mentoring him, sharing his own experiences as a Starfleet officer and teaching Tom about the importance of leadership, teamwork, and decision-making under pressure. Tom organized and participated in neighborhood Lazer tag teams, to further work on and enhance his strategy and tactics skills, plus with his shooting accuracy.
As he grew older, Bradley’s passion for technology and strategy only deepened. He attended Chicago’s top high school, excelling in subjects like physics, mathematics, and history. He was also a natural at Greco Wrestling, taking the state championship three years straight, evening besting a Klingon teenager. Tom fought through a broken left forearm, but managed to find the inner strength to beat the Klingon teen for the championship. His academic achievements and natural aptitude for leadership earned him a coveted spot at Starfleet Academy, where he would begin his journey to become a Starfleet officer. He also got a good recommendation from General Martok and Lieutenant Commander Worf as they were attending that particular wrestling match and witnessed Tom’s “warrior spirit” as Martok said.
The values and lessons Bradley learned in his childhood and adolescence would serve him well in his future career. His strong sense of duty, honed through his family’s military tradition, and his fascination with technology and strategy, had developed through years of study and play. These have helped Tom become the person he is now, because he has a foundation upon which he built his successful career as a Starfleet tactical officer.
Starfleet Academy (2388 to 2392)
During his time at Starfleet Academy, Bradley immersed himself in a rigorous academic environment that pushed him to excel in various aspects of Starfleet training. He consistently earned high grades in subjects like tactical operations, strategic planning, and leadership, demonstrating a natural aptitude for the complexities of space exploration and combat. Cadet Tom Bradley was just the second cadet to be successful in beating the final.exam for officer training, the dreaded “Kobayashi Maru test”. He found out how James T. Kirk beat it and improved upon it.
Bradley’s tactical prowess quickly became apparent, and he developed a reputation among his peers and instructors as a skilled and innovative thinker. He spent countless hours studying the tactics of renowned military leaders and analyzing historical battles, applying these lessons to simulated scenarios and exercises. One of his best battles he spent tons of time studying on was the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and of World War 2 in general.

Starbase 72 (2392 to 2398)
After graduating from the Academy, Bradley was assigned to Starbase 72, as a Junior Security Officer with the rank of Ensign, in 2392. Bradley quickly proved himself to be a skilled and dedicated officer, demonstrating a keen understanding of security protocols and tactical operations.
In the fall of 2393, Bradley’s exceptional performance earned him a quick promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade, a testament to his hard work and dedication. During his time on Starbase 72, he received several commendations for his service, including a commendation for his role in foiling a pirate attack on a Federation cargo ship, when Starbase 72 command personnel sent a Runabout out to stop the pirates.
One of Bradley’s most notable missions during his time on Starbase 72 was a successful away mission to a hostile planet. Bradley was part of a team sent to investigate an alien distress signal, which turned out to be a trap set by a group of rogue Cardassians who lived in the Federation side of the former DMZ. Bradley’s tactical skills and quick thinking helped the team navigate the treacherous terrain and hostile alien forces, ultimately completing their mission objective and retrieving vital information.
Bradley was also instrumental in a tactical operation to break up a pirate smuggling ring that had been operating in the vicinity of Starbase 72, at the request of Section 31. He played a key role in gathering intelligence, planning the operation, and leading a team of security personnel and a Section 31 task group, in a successful raid on the pirate’s hideout. The operation resulted in the capture of several high-ranking pirates and the seizure of a significant amount of contraband. The success of this mission is what pushed him to get another early promotion to full Lieutenant in the fall of 2394.
Through his experiences on Starbase 72, Bradley developed a strong understanding of the complexities of security operations and the importance of effective teamwork and communication. He worked closely with other security personnel, intelligence officers, and senior commanders to achieve mission objectives, honing his skills in leadership, strategy, and tactical operations.
