Summary

Captain Lucy Sadakat Nurdan is the current commanding officer of the USS Vacaville, having recently been transferred to this position after a short career in Archival Sciences & Diplomatics in the late 2390s. Her resume, which centred on her archival sciences career and interspecies relationships, her grounded nature and her ability to effortlessly fuse emotion with calculated decision-making all contributed to her taking up the captaincy of the California-class ship.

Appearance

Cpt. Nurdan, despite being in her mid-to-late 30’s, is a woman with blue eyes and blonde hair. She stands at approximately 1.73 meters tall and weighs in at just under 55kg, giving her an almost petit-like build.

Personality

A demanding yet flexible and open-minded captain, Nurdan is confident when sitting in the Captain’s chair and doesn’t take any risks without properly assessing the situation and all the proposals that are laid before her as well as their ramifications. However, when it comes to her private life, Lucy is a more relaxed person. She’s generally introverted in regards to social settings, but she doesn’t go out of her way to avoid social interactions either. Lucy, before becoming a captain, is specialised in archival sciences and diplomatics as well as having extensively learned astronomy as her main hobby.

History

Lucy Sadakat Nurdan was born in Antalya in 2365. Her parents were ex-Starfleet officers that were now peacefully living in their ancestral home. Her father used to work the astronomical charts on various ships whilst her mother was once a part of Starfleet Archives. As she grew up, Lucy took both of their fields to heart, fascinated by their work. By the time she was 12, she knew she would follow in the footsteps of her parents.

Lucy joined Starfleet Academy in 2383, the same year that the Protostar sabotage occurs. She decides to follow her mother and undertakes a P.H.D. in archival sciences but still honours her father by making astronomy her main hobby. She thrived under the Academy’s atmosphere.

After she graduates in 2393, Lucy immediately gets a job at Starfleet Archives due to the lack of officers there and works there for 4 years before transferring to the Bajoran Central Archives in 2397 for some off-world experience. Although she was nervous, Lucy knew her horizons had to be expanded. The spirituality of Bajor and seeing the relationships of other species opened her eyes. Lucy’s professional interspecies relationships and diplomacy went from strength to strength as a result of this, adding a further positive layer to her resume. She continued working there until January 2402.

In January 2402, the Fourth Fleet asked Lucy whether she’d like to be Captain of the Vacaville, a California-class ship. This was a huge decision to make – she called her parents, spent nights talking to strangers and set up meetings with confidants – all of them gave unique perspectives. In the end, she accepted, knowing that when she steps down, Lucy can return to her archival sciences career.
