Summary
Lieutenant Commander Alastair Hawthorne is a seasoned Starfleet Intelligence officer. A man of duty yet discretion, he serves as a useful resource in Starfleet’s array of tools in their Intelligence divisions. A veteran of both covert operations and counterintelligence work, Hawthorne has served in number of different settings and locations, both in and out of uniform.
Appearance
Hawthorne is a tall, lean officer with sharp, defined features, steel-grey eyes, evoking an air of old-world discipline. His dark hair is neat, and his skin bears the subtle, somewhat aged marks of experience. Always immaculately uniformed, his posture is rigidly upright, his back and neck straight. Even in civilian dress, he maintains a formal, composed appearance. The only personal touch he allows is a small pocket watch, a family heirloom, and his grandfather’s class ring, which he wears on his right hand.
Personality
Alistair Hawthorne embodies a quiet, stoic, discipline and a silent resolve, and possesses a ‘stiff upper lip’ composure in the most drastic of situations. He is a man of high and sharp intellect, yet a stubbornness that demands both respect and a quiet frustration from his comrades. Though he rarely shows emotion, Hawthorne is deeply principled, and holds his duties and loyalty to Starfleet above all else. Beneath his hardened exterior is a man burdened by the stress and and choices his work constantly demands.
History
Starfleet Academy – 2384-2388
Hawthorne entered Starfleet Academy at age 18, excelling in history, intelligence analysis, and tactical systems. Not the most popular at the Academy due to his quiet nature, he spent much of his time working and reading alone, even choosing to exercise and drill by himself rather than with his peers. At graduation, he ranked among the top of his class in both intelligence tactics and Earth history.
USS Excalibur – 2388-2392
Hawthrone’s first assignment was abroad the USS Excalibur as an Intelligence Officer, his years as an Ensign were spent conducting reconnaissance and analyzing potential threats along the Klingon and Romulan borders. During his time on the Excalibur he was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade.
Field Operations, Starfleet Intelligence – 2392-97
Hawthorne was recruited into Starfleet Intelligence for deep-cover assignments. For nearly five years, he worked behind enemy lines, gathering intelligence on rogue Klingon factions, Cardassian paramilitary groups, and resurgent Romulan splinter cells.
USS Vigilant – 2397-2401
Hawthrone’s success in intelligence work led to his appointment as the Intelligence Specialist aboard the USS Vigilant, a specialized vessel focused on covert operations. He honed his leadership skills, learning firsthand what it meant to lead in the field rather than from the shadows, a clear change of pace from his time with Starfleet Intelligence.
