Summary

Recently transferring over to the San Diego, this is Grkovic’s second assignment as XO. Very outgoing, energetic and with a strong personality, Commander Grkovic is confident she can handle whatever comes her way. She is a very accomplished operations officer and Commander Grkovic’s family comes from a long line of Starfleet service on both her maternal and paternal sides.

Appearance

Fair skinned with dark hair and dark eyes, Grkovic is tall for a human female standing right at 1.83 meters. She has a rangy, athletic frame that sports whipcord muscle that carries a strength that belies here weight of 66 kg. She wears her hair in a utilitarian pony tail both on and off duty.

Personality

Outgoing, outspoken and never to be outdone, Grkovic is a bundle of energy and is given to talking in quick, clipped tones that can sound unintentionally harsh until one realizes it’s simply her speaking pattern. While not exactly quick to anger, she brooks no nonsense and isn’t one to be questioned once a command is given, though if a good point is brought up she is capable of considering it, the person trying to make the point should pray they are correct however. Off duty she enjoys painting, which helps her calm some of that energy of hers. She is hard but fair and is capable of a certain friendliness, but does keep junior personnel at a certain arm’s length.

History

Early Life (2364-2383)

Grkovic was born to Starfleet enlisted veterans Darko Grkovic and Amelie Deffontaines, both served as medical technicians. When Amelie became pregnant with Adrijana’s older sister, Marjorie, they decided to raise a family in a more stable environment and after their enlistment terms were up settled on Zavijava V at the New Akron colony, a bustling, medium sized city. They both quickly became part of the colonial administration and settled down to a calm life of paperwork and routine.

Five years after the birth of Marjorie, Adrijana was born. Marjorie was something of a precocious child and any hopes Adrijana would have a calmer personality were soon dashed and both girls were quite capable of driving their parents to distraction and the family household was a lively place. Adrijana grew to be a quite tall and athletic young lady and sports like soccer, basketball and gymnastics were a big part of her childhood.

She was a solid enough student but chafed at sitting in class as her energetic nature would see her rather be on the basketball court or soccer field. Her energy, while abundant, was also tightly focused and Adrijana soon showed a talent for organization, making her a popular member of academic group projects.

She was also fascinated by her parent stories about their time in Starfleet. Inevitably this led to an interest in possibly enlisting in Starfleet herself. Both parents flat out didn’t like this idea, not so much in joining Starfleet but in enlisting. As they pointed out, she could always enlist but trying for the Academy would offer far more for her. So she took a chance and passed the entrance exam, to her parent’s great pride and left New Akron for Earth in 2383

Starfleet Academy (2383-2387)

After entering Starfleet Academy on the Operations track, Grkovic became highly active in the Academy athletics programs, playing not only her native basketball and soccer, but also sports like Parrises Squares and Velocity. Her academics were decent, though she found history courses to be tough as she found them boring and held little interest to her. Her seemingly boundless energy saw her activity level in both academics and extracurricular activities move at a very high tempo and some of her peers and instructors worries about burn out. This never seemed to happen and Grkovic graduated the Academy in 2387.

Starbase Icarus (2387-2391)

Grkovic arrived at Starbase Icarus and almost immediately hated it. She quickly found duty on the starbase to be somewhat dull and she felt unchallenged. She did her duties diligently and did her best to curb her discontent. He work was still top notch and she was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade in 2390 and the following year was able to request a transfer to the USS Midway.

USS Midway (NCC 79246) (2391-2394)

While Grkovic disliked her tour of duty on Starbase Icarus, she absolutely loved her time aboard the Sovereign-class USS Midway. She found the challenge she sought during the Midway’s deep space exploration mission. For three years she was in her element, helping to ensure the organization of the vessel from everything to supplies, to daily routines to personnel. Every action felt important and she was quickly recognized for her keen mind and seemingly inexhaustible reserves of energy. Seeing her potential, her seniors onboard the Midway suggested she enter the command track and upon her promotion to Lieutenant in 2394, she was transferred to become the head of Operations onboard the USS Zh’vaahlir.

USS Zh’vaahlir (NCC 59554) (2394-2397)/Chief of Operations/Lieutenant

After arriving as Chief of Operations aboard the Challenger-class starship, the Zh’vaahlir almost immediately dispatched to explore several dangerous nebulae, quasars, pulsars and more anomalous stellar bodies. She quickly left her high speed, energetic stamp on her department and the constant drills and exercises made the vessel capable of some rather surprising feats of logistics for a vessel her size. Despite the danger of the overall mission, there was no incident that the ship couldn’t handle and Grkovic’s ability to pull long hours under pressure was a boon to her captain and the senior staff.

USS Zh’vaahlir (NCC 59554) (2397-2401)/Chief of Operations/Lieutenant Commander

It was business as usual after Grkovic’s promotion to Liuetenant Commander. She was able to avoid transfer and stayed on as Chief of Operations. She helped organize three different rescue and evacuation missions involving both space stations and planetside settlements and was decorated for her tireless work during these crises. When the Zh’vaahlir’s executive officer moved on to a command of his own, both he and the captain lobbied Starfleet for an in house promotion of Grkovic to Commander

USS Zh’vaahlir (NCC 59554) (2401-2402)/Executive Officer

After five years, the Zh’vaahlir’s executive officer moved on to a command of his own and both he and the captain lobbied Starfleet to promote Grkovic and have her take the spot. This suited Grkovic fine as despite several years on the ship, she loved the Zh’vaahlir and still felt challenged. She served only a single year as XO before she received orders to take over the San Diego’s executive officer’s position.

USS San Diego (NCC 75582) (2402-Present)/Executive Officer

While at first unhappy about the abrupt ending of her time as XO of the Zh’vaahlir, Grkovic is trying to embrace the change. Despite the comparatively mundane mission set of the San Diego, Grkovic simply sees it as another challenge until it proves otherwise.
