History
Early History
Valentine Robinson was born on Benecia Colony in 2255. His father was the Federation Undersecretary for Agriculture, succeeding Nilz Baris. His mother achieved moderate success as an author of popular romantic fiction. Growing up, there was only one future career path that was acceptable for young Valentine: service to the Federation, in some capacity.
Starfleet History
At Starfleet Academy, Robinson had intended to be a science officer, but changed his mind after an inspiring lecture by a linguist. Upon graduation in 2277, Robinson was assigned as a communications officer in Lisbon. There he worked for the Division of Planetary Operations, the organisation responsible to ensuring the global stability of Earth’s energy generation systems and power supply.
During the 2280’s, Robinson was stationed on the Federation world of Sauria, where he became proficient in the notoriously difficult native reptilian language. During this time, he also completed post graduate studies in structural linguistics.
By the 2290’s, Robinson served aboard the Excelsior-class, USS Agamemnon as both Chief Communications Officer and Executive Officer under Captain Remna Morkan. He continued to serve as first officer under Captain Randall Dowding eventually succeeding him as commanding officer.
As captain of the Agamemnon, Robsinson led a mission to the pre-warp world of Mercia, to address new indications of cultural contamination. Mercia had previously been subject to cultural interference in the 2260s. Reports from this period also indicate that the Agamemnon conducted numerous anti-piracy patrols along the Klingon and Romulan borders.
