Ian Ryan

Ian Andrew Ryan was born in 2353 one year after his sister Tabitha and two years before his younger sister Skye in London, England. His father Leon worked as a civilian ship designer for Starfleet and thus his desire to go into engineering was born. Ian struggled with mathematics however and, therefore had to take extra course work the summer prior to going to the Academy.

In 2371 he officially began his education at Starfleet Academy in the field of engineering though he never really picked a main subject of interest warp theory was a primary focus for him. Due to personnel shortages during the Dominion War he graduated from the Academy one year early in 2374 and was assigned to the USS Kennedy. After only one year of service and his extinguished services during the ending days of the Dominion War he was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade.

In 2377 the Executive Officer was promoted from Commander to Captain and given his own command leading the Commanding Officer of the Kennedy to choose the Chief Engineering Officer as the new Executive Officer. This eventually led to Ian being selected as the new Assistant Chief Engineering Officer. And, after only two years he would be promoted again to Lieutenant and made the new Chief Engineering Officer when his predecessor transferred off the ship.

Ian Ryan was on the Kennedy for another three years before being transferred to the USS Washington when the Kennedy was decommissioned. A few months later and he had been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Interest in command seemed to take hold over Ian and after serving as the Chief Engineer aboard the Washington he was made the Second Officer. Eventually, in 2389 he was transferred to the USS Medea when an opening for Executive Officer had been announced.
